Re: Following Revelations On Jammeh’s Blood Diamonds Deal- Freedom Newspaper Editors Receive Death Threats.

By Salam Mahama

Dear Mr Ajacksonebrahim,

It’s sad you wrote the way you did. Your writing does not make you a true African. If I were in your place I will rather take the issues raised in the said article that hungered you and respond to them one after the other. Why did you not spend your time responding to the “blood Diamond” but rather chose to talk of the west and their problems. Why did you not address issues related to the Gambians who being  held unlawfully in jail by Jemmeh but rather chose to address “Guanatamo Base”( Guanatamo Bay)

Breaking News: Following Revelations On Jammeh’s Blood Diamonds Deal- Freedom Newspaper Editors Receive Death Threats.

By Ahmadou Jacksonebrahim

Barley less than 24 hours, after the damning lead story in which Correspondent Justice Sam and MB Ceesay exposed President Yahya Jammeh’s clandestine blood diamond and arm trafficking scandal in Africa, a disgruntled supporter of his Government, has written to the Freeedom Newspaper, threatening its Editors and family members in The Gambia. The APRC supporter accuses the Freedom Editors of being unpatriotic, trying to set The Gambia on fire, unethical and a host of other allegations. Please read the unedited letter we received.

Man,

It has given me a sleepless nights for many times since I discovered your website and started reading it. I really do not believe that a Gambian like u should be behaving the way u are. How can u darely do what u are doing. Do u thing that, u are harming President Jammeh? No u are harming ur own family members in the country who are not even aware of what u are doing. Why are making slanders and libels against an innocent man like Jammeh who have the love for this country at heart.

Rising food prices:-United Nations Says “SILENT TSUMANI” –People in The Gambia cry blood in silence!

By Hammadi Maasinah

Thinking about the  rising food prices, one cannot miss the fact that it is indeed affecting the world’s population especially HIPC(Heavily indebted poor countries) like ours. This is so scary for obvious reasons. There is the specific and the general part of the whole fiasco. The general phenomenon is where the whole world is faced with a  challenge while running along the perimeters of compelling forces. Forces related to the high demand for gas as a  commodity that helps maintain communication via sea, air and road networks.

Breaking News: Jammeh Receives $10 Million Worth Of “Blood Diamond”  Proceeds From The Sierra Leonean And Liberian War- Reveals A Leaked Intelligence Report

By Justice Sam and MB Ceesay, Banjul

Gambia’s President Yahya Jammeh benefited from the Sierra Leonean and Liberian blood diamond funds, a leaked intelligence report reveals today. Mr. Jammeh whose New Millennium plane was tasked with trafficking artillery weapons to the war ravaged manor-river war nations, was said to have given a power of attorney to one of his loved ones, named withheld for now,  to sell blood diamonds collected from Liberia and Sierra Leone in Antwerp Belgium, the Freedom Newspaper has been reliably informed by sources close to the corridors of power in Banjul. As Liberians and Sierra Leonean taste freedom, after so many years of instability, marred by the maiming and killing of children, the elderly and women, Gambia’s President has been formally named as one of principal actors  fuelling the decade long war.

Yahya Paves a way for destabilising Gambia-Town Crier Writes!!

In my last piece to you, I said I was going to send you an e-mail revealing how corruption has reared its ugly head at the Banjul Ferry Services. Of
course I am aware that all efforts will be made to try and intercept any
e-mail coming to you/freedom paper. So I am faxing this to you and will not
reveal how the next one will be sent. Let them keep guessing. We will give
them a run for their money. Now we have "super intelligence units" and so we must always be at par or ahead of them. Set a thief to catch a thief? What about if the thief is the actual one stealing and being sent to catch the
thief? Will he/she ever be caught?

ONLY AFRICAN JUSTICE IS RIGHT!! SAY DAILY OBSERVER JOKERS. BY WATCHMAN.

ONLY AFRICAN JUSTICE IS RIGHT!! SAY DAILY OBSERVER JOKERS. BY WATCHMAN.

The jokers and elementary school grade writers at The Gambia's Daily observer are at it again. Previously, the Watchman deemed this so called newspaper such a travesty of journalistic conscience that it was barely mentioned on other commentaries. There is an editorial they penned; however, that deserves some scrutiny and lots of laughs. Titled "Tell Them to Go Shove It" and recently cross posted at the All Africa website, this comedy of words launches a rather clumsy assault on global attempts to prosecute African war criminals. It also pivots to defend the "justice" ministers who had gathered like a pack of wolves at Addis Ababa to condemn internationally hailed efforts to indict African Human Rights scofflaws. Here's one interesting excerpt:

Breaking News:  Rice Scarcity Hits Gambia!!! Hunger Related Deaths Likely To Go Up!!!

By Justice Sam And MB Ceesay, Banjul

Thousands of Gambians risked starving to death, as rice the nation’s main staple food is currently out of stock, the Freedom Newspaper, can authoritatively report. There is a massive scarcity of rice in The Gambia. Major importers have warned about a potential food shortage in months ahead. The Government is apparently mute over the rice shortage, which is likely to lead to social unrest,  if not tackled immediately. Many poverty stricken families are worried about the current state of affairs, befalling the tiny West African country.

Breaking News: Journalists Barred From Covering Fatou Jaw Manneh’s Sedition Trial!!

By  Momodou Taal, Banjul

The sedition trial of the US based journalist Fatou Jaw Manneh is turning ugly, with the presiding magistrate issuing a decree baring local journalists from covering the high profile legal action, ever brought against a foreign journalist. The Kanifing Magistrate Courts had ruled from now on, no journalist would be allowed to cover the said case. The decree followed an application made by the Director of Public Prosecution Emmanuel Fagbenle, for the court to conceal the names of the witnesses lined up to testify in the said matter.

Mama Njie Disagrees With WatchMan!!
Thursday, April 24, 2008 (347 reads)

Dear Watchman,

You did not convince me that you are indeed not a mandinka man. That is beside the point. I did not make or take any samples or sampling because in the Gambia we talk about generalities. Things that are very common. And that fact stays the same that the mandinka men are obsessed with wolof women.

By the way do you know that the most popular and talked about woman in the
Gambia is a mandinka-fula woman? Fatou Jaw Manneh is her name. She is beautiful strong and yet very feminine. My cousins say she looks more beautiful when she is in the dock in court. Do you defend her from this system? She is one the few genuine people left in the country. She has support locally and internationally and Jammeh should exchange ideas with her. He cannot swallow her.

No I never have problems neither my friends with mandinka men. I have a lot of them as friends. Just reminding them to respect their women.Mandinka  women should be a little open too and venture out of their backyards. Their are a lot of men looking out for them WATCHMAN included.
Thanks

Freedom Newspaper Finds Freedom Elsewhere to Serve Gambia

In the middle of March 2008 editor-in-chief Pa Nderry M’Bai of Gambia’s online news source Freedom Newspaper received numerous emails from concerned readers in Gambia informing him that they were unable to view the website. The government had blocked the website-a notorious tactic still familiar even to M’Bai who is now based in North Carolina, United States.
