Michael Scales on Illegal Immigration-Scales says foreign policies should be reviewed!! Sunday, May 20, 2007 (250 reads)

Scales on illegal
immigration
Good day My good friend,
Illegal immigrants have been a big problem for Europe. There has been an incredible shift in migration from developing countries due to increased membership of the E.U.,wars in Iraq ,terrorism, famine, poverty, political persecution and economic factors. As your article from Mr.Jawera touched on...people are prepared to risk life and limb to cross open seas ,deserts and hostile terrain to reach what they perceived as safety. Only to find that if they enter without the necessary approval they will be detained and in most cases sent back to an uncertain future. The United Kingdom has been a safe haven for those with genuine and provable need for centuries. It is part of our tradition and culture. Migration and its problems to our economy and society has become a political hot potato, between political parties and climbs higher on the agenda ,as of grave concern to the British people. This is why the foreign policies of the free World must come under strict review by Parliaments and Congress. I have no wish to enter the political arena over the War in Iraq other than to be brave enough to state my own humble opinion....

STILL ON LAMARANISM- Colonel Sarr fights back!! Friday, May 18, 2007 (886 reads)

Sana Sabally Chongan's former orderly named!!
By Col. Sam Sarr Col. Sam Sarr
STILL ON LAMARANISM
My dear Pa Nderry,
I’m back again hoping not to be viewed as a nuisance owing to my persistency. Anyhow you almost embarrassed me with those kind words in your editorial. I was really flattered. Thanks once again. However I am this time obliged to raise my concern over your statement urging me to apologize to my friend Chongan for associating him with Lamarna. I don’t know how that was misinterpreted in that piece but I thought my trend of argument was crystal clear in establishing that I was on the contrary trying to distance my friend from the bad guy. The only dimension added to that was my suspicion of Samba my mysterious e-mailer having a clandestine commonality with Lamanara on a possible conspiracy to put me on a collision course with Chongan. If that was not clearly presented, then I believe I must have communicated poorly this time. Then I read the following, wondering why you had to go that far;For your information this paper has been reprimanded in the past by Chongan who blamed us for attacking you in one of our editorials. This was the piece we branded former GAF officials as cowards. That you allowed the junta led by Jammeh to topple Jawara's government. The said piece never went down well with your comrade Chongan. God can bear us witness on Changan's statement in defense of you. Chongan had the belief that people like you should be encouraged to talk and not to be antagonized. We are compelled to disclose the private conversation we had with Chongan since he is being blackmailed by an unknown Gambian.

Breaking News:Who Is Lamarana? Colonel Sarr says an email linked Lamarana to Chongan's former orderly! Editors react! Thursday, May 17, 2007 (1278 reads)

Sana Sabally Chongan's former orderly named!!
By Lt. Col. Sam Sarr.
WHO IS LAMARANA?
Dear Pa Nderry,
I first wish to register my apology to you and your entire staff over the cynicism I had expressed in the article forwarded by Mr. Lamarana. Frankly speaking for a while I thought you were just trying to provoke me into giving you the interview we had agreed upon weeks ago. If you could recall I did say that I was compiling some materials and would award you the session as soon as I was done with it. We had had that agreement in confidence, with both of us looking forward to the exciting moment. However, when you mentioned the anticipated interview in one of your editorials highlighting the bravery of Chongan and the GNA's cowardly action during the coup for not defending Jawara, I got the impression that you were a bit impatient over our agreement and was just trying to get it done faster. With what I know now, I was dead wrong. Then from nowhere, the mysterious Lamarana appeared with all the hallmarks of a misplaced character among the reasonable Gambians trying to conduct an enlightening discussion. I knew there was no Gambian of serious significance in that name, especially someone claiming to have been very close to me. Anyway you would never believe in the e-mail I received from London, England last night from somebody claiming to know who Lamarana actually is and whom he could swear was behind the name. First he said Lamarana was a gendarme soldier who was Major Ebrima Chingan's orderly, but his last name was Barry and not Jallow. In his conclusion he tried to make me believe in him to the point of saying that he had heard Chongan saying the exact words about me in social gatherings they had attended together. The guy calls himself Samba Jaharang a name that I know does not exit either.

Colonel Sam Sarr placed Journalist Suwaibou Conateh under gun point in 1994 to write a coup speech! Lamarana Jallow unveils! Wednesday, May 16, 2007 (1128 reads)

Sabally Chongan
By Lamarana Jallow, a son of the Gambia.
Dear Mr. Editor,
I'm back with more revealing stuff about the shameless Colonel Sam Sarr who is trying to buy time at this hour. Sam will get what he wanted since he is concealing his past criminal activities from Gambians. As a matter of fact, I used to be very close to Colonel Sam Sarr. I mean very close to him!!! Sam Sarr should respond to my allegations if his hands are clean. His reaction never came as a surprise to me. Sam was a dictator, while at the Gambian National Army. I have been privy to Sam's past secret military activities, against our defenseless countrymen, which I will reveal online since he is not willing to confess to Gambians about his past sinister activities against our people. Sam reserves the right not to respond to my allegations, but nothing can stop me from unveiling what I know about this monster trying project himself as a decent man when he is not. Sam has executed all kinds of dirty errands for Jammeh one can think of. It was Sam Sarr who "gun point veteran Gambian Journalist and former Radio Gambia Director Suwaibou Conateh to write a speech for the 1994 July coupists led by Jammeh." Sarr was accompanied by the former Army Spokesman Captain Alhagie Kanteh and Mamat Cham. Sarr was detailed at the material time by Jammeh to force Suwaibou Conateh to write a speech for them without his free will. Conateh was left with no option but to meet Sarr's demands or risked having his head blown off. Sarr told Conateh that he has two options-one to write a coup take over statement for them or risked losing his life. Sarr told him that the orders to force him to write such a statement emanates from their leader Yahya Jamemeh. July 22ND was Conateh's worse nightmare, as gun totting coupists led by Sam Sarr had already threatened to take his life. Suwaibou could not understand the rationale behind Sarr's "forced" statement policy since he Sarr was qualified enough to write the said statement. After a second thought the old man wrote what they wanted him to author. After holding Suwaibou Conateh under duress and hostage for about an hour, Sarr and his team left with the statement which they hand delivered to Yahya Jammeh. Where is decency Colonel Sarr is calling for? Sarr has not only persecuted our people, but had violated their rights as citizens. On top of that, Sarr shamelessly aided and abetted the dictatorship in oppressive tactics against our people. Sam is not a clean man. He must be lying if he ever parades himself as one. Journalist Suwaibou Conateh is alive to corroborate my claims. If Captain Kanteh and Mamat Cham are honest to themselves they will confirm my assertions. I back up my allegations with facts, nothing but facts. So God help me in my crusade to tell the Gambian people about the through colors of Sam Sarr.

Scales Sports project:World Under-20 championship: Gambia's place and image in history!! Wednesday, May 16, 2007 (288 reads)

Gambia's Under 2o team
By Associate Editor Muhammed Jawara, New York.
World Under-20 championship: Gambia's place and image in history ....
In June 2007 The Gambia will participate in FIFA under-20 world football championship for the first time in our history. It’s been a long road for Gambian football, and given all what we know about Gambian and African football history, it’s our turn to make history. Besides the knowledge of our common passion for the game, we also know that we are not a football powerhouse by any means. We are no Senegal who have appeared in a senior World Cup before nor are we Ghana with a rich history of football trophies and achievements. Notwithstanding, like our two West African sister countries; our passion for football is unshakable and our desire for success is second to none.

Who Is Sam Sarr? Wednesday, May 16, 2007 (788 reads)

Sabally Chongan
There is one thing to show a man that he is in error and another to put him in possession of the truth. The Other Truth about Colonel Sarr!
By Yanks Darboe
Post Graduate Law Student, UK
Few years ago I read an article on the closed Independent Newspaper about an exile soldier; ex- Lt. Kejau Touray, who I believe is still in the UK; in this article Lt.Touray stated that he was once alleged to have been plotting a coup to overthrow the government of Yahya Alfonso Juhunkeh Jammeh. According to Touray there was no fallacy in this allegation; in fact his only crime was to speak for the minority mandinko soldiers in the Gambia National Army; as a result the Jammeh’s henchmen wanted to eliminate him from the Army by alleging him of a coup plot. However; thanks to one man in the whole of Gambia, who saved him by defending his innocence; this man was no other than Ex-Army Commander Colonel Samsudeen Sarr. Yet Lama Jallow claimed to know a lot about Colonel Sarr; but never knew or forgets to mention this benevolent side of Colonel Samsudeen Sarr. This begs me to question does Lama really know Colonel Sarr, as he wants us to believe him? Or does he merely want to disgrace him on freedom; so as to stop him from demanding Sana Sabally to empty his closet about the crimes he committed against the Gambian lives on November 11? If the latter is the motive for Lama’s sinister campaign, then he should be shamed of himself; Sabally was no better than Jammeh.

Breaking News:Colonel Sam Sarr Demands to know the true identity of Lamarana Jallow! Editors call his reaction weak!!! Wednesday, May 16, 2007 (658 reads)

Open Letter To Colonel Sam Sarr! Freedom Editors concerned by Lamarana's damning and………
Dear Editor,
Is this all a joke? You don’t really think I am going to dignify these funny guy’s allegations presented in the name of Lamarana Jallow, do you? Mixing facts with tales wasn’t intelligently done this time. And I just don’t want waste my time with arguing with people I know nothing about, especially those who appear like clinical nuts. To be frank with you I don’t think any Gambian anywhere at home or abroad claiming to know so much about me exist in that name. But I would task you with this-if Lamarana Jallow could be clearly identified by profession, background, address or anything that can convince me that he actually exist or could be identified by one or two Gambians I know, then I may perhaps consider a rejoinder to his story. Otherwise, consider it dismissed as irrelevant to me. The guy writes and sounds like a clown. Let’s laugh over it and carry on.
...................................
Editors note: Mr. Sarr thanks for speaking out. Ours is not to expose our sources. Unless Lamarana gives us the green light to name him, we are not at liberty to disclose his identity. Our stance is based on pure journalistic reasons. As journalists, we are required to protect our sources and not to put their lives in jeopardy. What is relevant here is the magnitude of the allegations brought against you. Period!!! You seem to be very concerned at this hour about the author’s identity. Who said what and where the information is coming from. You have good cause to do so, in view of the writer’s anonymity. What bothers many Gambians is the gravity of the allegations. Putting the writer’s identity aside, it is our firm belief that allegations of such nature should not be left unchallenged. Brother Sam, your terse and scanty piece would only raise more questions than answers. Please answer to Lamarana’s allegations in the interest of preserving your integrity. Assuming that Lamarana’s piece was inaccurate as you alluded to, what is the true story then? How would you react to his torture, persecution, killing and trial by media allegations? How about your beef with Baboucarr Jatta?
