The Gambian Head of State made this sensational acknowledgment in a speech marking the fourteenth (14th) anniversary of the July 22nd military take over at the Arch 22nd in Banjul.

Banjul:7/24/08-Since the accidental coming into power of the most unfortunate and useless government of Yaya Jammeh what have we achieved in terms of education? Yes, all his supporters will jump up with two feet and and hands in the air and say we've gotten a university under his watch. Nigerian Editor Goes To Court!!

…..As Arrest Nigerian Editor Charged For Sedition in the Gambia

Banjul:7/23/08-The managing Editor of the Today Newspaper Mr.Adiamoh Abdulhamid was on Monday 21 July charged with seditious intentions contrary to the criminal code. The said charged was preferred against him by the police at their Headquarters in the Capital Banjul.

Statement issued by the (UDP) on the July 22^nd celebrations: 

New York:7/22/08-Gambian People, the international Community and all Democratic and Human Rights Organizations worldwide are hereby called upon to condemn in the strongest terms the (APRC) Government for celebrating the July 22 1994 Coup D’etat, the day some junior undisciplined, non commissioned officers of the Gambian national army led by Yahya Jammeh decided to challenge the legitimate and constitutionally elected Government of the Gambian people. This is why the regime takes it upon itself to celebrate and commemorate this dark historic occasion every year in spite of the fact that the majority of Gambians remain totally opposed to the idea.
