Breaking News:Former US President Jimmy Carter disassociates himself from Daily Observer's lies and propaganda campaign-Carter set the records straight!!! Thursday, August 24, 2006 (364 reads)
Gambia: Correction of President Carter's Comments on The Gambia
Carter Center
(Atlanta)
PRESS RELEASE August 24, 2006 Posted to the web August 24, 2006
The
Carter Center regrets The Daily Observer's selective citation of a
private letter from former U.S. President Jimmy Carter to President
Yahya Jammeh, giving readers the false impression that President Carter
supports President Jammeh and his policies. President
Carter, as a private individual who supports grass roots human rights
defenders throughout the world, often will communicate his concerns
about specific human rights violations in confidential letters to Heads
of State. On occasion, this can allow for a respectful exchange and
exploration of remedies. The Carter Center does not release these
letters. In this case, a pro-government newspaper came into possession
of one such letter and chose to reprint the single favorable sentence
in which President Carter congratulated President Jammeh for hosting
the recent African Union summit.
Daily Observer's Saja Taal caught pants down-The Observer is the real hate site. Observer's misinformation is getting out of hand. Trying to misrepresent a former US President, this is too much. The Observer should call it quits. This is not journalism. You don't put words into people's mouth.

Breaking News:Shake Up At Sebanor Police Station-SO Colley and his men arrested-As Foni Wassadu Marabout escapes arrest!!!
IGP Sonko and Lang
Tombong Tamba were said to be clients of the escaped Marabout- Sources
say a deal was reached for the Marabout's escape!!
President Jammeh calls for the Prosecution of So Colley and his men
By An Insider
The station officer of the Sibanor police station Abdoulie Colley and
some of his men are currently detained at an undisclosed location
following a failed operation to arrest a renowned marabout in Foni
Wassadu called one Mr. Hydara, the Freedom Newspaper can
authoritatively report. SO Colley and his men were assigned by
President Jammeh to effect the arrest of the Marabout, who was wanted
in connection with "state matters", but the marabout disappeared during
the cause of his arrest. When Colley and his men first arrived at his
residence, they communicated to Marabout Hydara that he was wanted for
questioning, but the sheriff Islamic scholar pleaded with the officers
to give him time to pray before he leaves and in the process, he took
onto his hills, the Freedom Newspaper gathered. News of the
Marabout's disappearance angered the head of state who ordered for the
arrest of SO Colley and his men. It is not clear at this hour why the
marabout was being trailed by the police, but sources close to the
police say the President is increasingly living in fear these days.
Reports have it that Jammeh is uncertain about his tenure as a
President.

Let me tell you how peace keeper from the gambia are suffering now
in the hands of the igp and the interior minister babucarr jatta.
IGP
and Baboucarr Jatta have instructed all the contingent commanders to
collect 10% of their MSA to be paid to IGP. Infact the instructions
have make Ousman Jatta the contingent commander of the Darfur team to
collect from the team $100 plus during the July 22nd celebrations
whether you attend the party or not. Those who opposed to that were
reported as opposition to the igp and the minister.

Amadou Lowe Clarifies!!! Wednesday, August 23, 2006 (463 reads)
By Amadou Lowe
My
reaction is that of total dismay. In the first place, I have never
spoken to any reporter from the Freedom Newspaper either directly or
indirectly and I don't know any of them. That Omar Fye has not called
me is not an issue to me. Obviously, Mr.Fye has a new set of priorities
and it makes absolute sense that he deals with these priorities in a
circle of like minded friends. Therefore, given the fact that I'm
totally opposed to the APRC, I remain totally opposed to the APRC and
all its nonsense. It is not a surprise to me that a senior member of
that machinery who has been a close friend for many many years, I
found it necessary to give me a distance. This however, does not in
anyway signify that we are enemies. I consider Mr.Fye as a friend and a
relative. Secondly,I have never been a director of Youth and Sports. I
was a national Youth officer. My relationship with Mr.Fye has always
been based on mutual respect and affection. And the boy, boy scenario
suggested in the said story is utter nonsense. I would like all readers
of the said article to know that this rejoinder, I'm writing is my
first attempt of speaking to anyone contributing to the Freedom
Newspaper. In the future, I would be appreciative if I'm consulted
prior to publishing stories concerning me in order that I can give you
my frank stake on that. Finally, I have no intention of using the media
to spread false news especially so as it affects what has been a
special relation. Let off course this disclaimer not be interpreted in
anyway whatsoever, as an attempt on my part to conceal my total
disagreement with the APRC party and all that it stands for. But in a
democratic culture, I'm oblige to respect individual choices of
association and without malice. Thank you. ..................................................................... Editors note:
Mr.Lowe thanks for the concerns raised about the Omar Fye affair. The
Freedom Newspaper is not in the business of spreading false news and we
stood by all what we reported about Omar Fye. Agreed, we should have
contacted you for your side of the story, but your phone number was not
in our possession to reach you at the material time. Ask your colleague
Kebba Jallow if he was not contacted by this editor to authenticate the
aspect of the reporter's story mentioning him as a person. We are very
responsible journalists and would do our best to verify stories before
publication. This paper harbors no grudges against Omar Fye and all
what we reported about him is the truth and nothing but the truth. You
are entitle to your opinion and we respect that. Peace.

NADD: The Solution Agenda Wednesday, August 23, 2006 (390 reads)

NADD: The Solution Agenda
After
reading my article on Diplomacy, a friend of mine, an AFPRC supporter,
sent me this e-mail: “I may not share your Jammeh-bashing sentiments
but I would be unjust if I do not admit the beauty of the following
statement as the acme of literary excellence! Read: ‘NADD is led by a
superlatively eloquent man with time-tested solid integrity matched by
un-dimming strength of vision to light our way into the future. What
more could The Gambia ask for?’” Translation? Mr. Halifa Sallah is our
only and best choice.

Fajara Barracks Diary-The students killing, torture of coup suspects including MP Ramzia Diab and the revelations on the killers of Lt. Almamo Manneh Wednesday, August 23, 2006 (1041 reads)
Fajara
Barracks Diary-The students killing, torture of coup suspects including
MP Ramzia Diab and the revelations on the killers of Lt. Almamo Manneh
Interior Secretary Jatta says Jammeh enjoys killing!!!
Interior Minister Baboucarr Jatta once told me that Lang Tombong Tamba
was not trusted by President Jammeh. This was the time when Lang was
moved from the State Guards to the GAF Head Quarters. Lang's transfer
was felt by former First Lady Tuti Faal Jammeh, but Jammeh insisted
that Lang got to leave the State House. Jatta said Lang was considered
as a security threat at the time and was brought to his office for
possible surveillance. Jatta tells you everything about Jammeh when he
is in good mood. This was the day when he told me that the orders to
kill the students demonstrators came from President Jammeh. At the time
Jammeh was in Cuba, but instructed him to order his men to shoot and
kill the students. Jatta said he and the former Interior Minister
Ousman Badjie acted based on the orders they received from the
President. He will be surprised to read online about the said
information he confided with me privately, but Jatta dares dispute that
he reveals this to me. Jatta said they have the list of soldiers and
paramilitary agents who killed the students and even shown me the said
list during an encounter at his office. He calls Jammeh a toy or mad
man who can kill when he is angry. Jatta said he hates what happens on
April 10, but noted that the situation was beyond their control.

Private Eye With Gambiasara-Yahya Jammeh is not the right person to serve as commander-in-chief!!! Tuesday, August 22, 2006 (530 reads)
It’s unfortunate for the Gambia to have Yaya Jammeh as her Chief Executive Officer...
Gambisara tries to practice what is called “Do unto others what you like others to do unto you”. The Gambia
is faced with a lot of societal-ills principally caused by the state
through its chief executive officer, President Yayah Jammeh. He
successfully created the divide and rule system where there is absolute
lack of trust among matrimonial households. VP Isatou Njie-Saidy does
not trust SoS Edward Singhatey and CDS Lang Tombong Tamba do not trust
NIA DG Harry Sambou for not to secretly instruct officers arrest him
late in the night in the name of National Security. In this edition,
Gambisara tries to analyse the editorial of the Daily Observer last
Friday, the 18th August 2006. Gambisara knows it’s a Government paper as its bank roller or pay master is Yaya Jammeh. Gambisara have the
opinion that the Daily Observer owes our respected opposition leaders an unreserved public apology.

A LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT-Baati Jollof Tuesday, August 22, 2006 (403 reads)
A LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT
By Baati Jollof
Dear Sir,
As
the 2006 Presidential Elections in The Gambia draws near, there are
already indications that rough, tough and violent times lies in wait
for the entire citizenry that would be involved in the election
process, most especially the members of the opposition. The
nature of the recent attack by the Arrogant, Perturbed and Restless
Criminals (APRC) on the UDP/ NRP campaign team in the Central River
Region is a clear signal that your thugs will be geared into motion
come September, in order to cause havoc and create confusion and panic.

Defending Pa Saikou Kujabi Tuesday, August 22, 2006 (439 reads)
By Foday Samateh
Halifa Sallah and I became the subject of criticism in a recent opinion
article by Pa Saikou Kujabi: “Halifa Sallah should apologize for the
mess he put us in.”
Not surprisingly, responses defending Mr. Sallah came from everywhere.
Regrettably, some of them went over the top. Some even went into
name-calling. I know Pa Saikou for a long time. He is decent and
patriotic. He is also a multi-dimensional dedicated community activist.
I have no doubt that he wants the best for his country. That love
inspired his article. If he was tribalist as some implied he would be
in APRC, and not UDP. He is a quintessential Gambian with no tribal
loyalty or prejudice. Every supporter of Mr. Sallah’s presidential
candidacy is duty bound to emulate what he is best known for: strong
argument over strong language in a debate.
