Breaking News:Defunct Independent Newspaper Premises Turns Bushes! Sunday, August 26, 2007 (749 reads)
Defunct Independent Newspaper Premises Turns Bushes!
Freedom Newspaper Banjul Correspondent Famara Jammeh visits the closed Newspaper
Independent Proprietors's silence Shocked News Readers!!
......Gov't Accused of Press Censorship
By Correspondent Famara Jammeh Banjul.
Paid for and Commissioned by the Freedom Newspaper.
Once a leading and most critical news outlet in the tiny impoverished West African county, the Banjul based Independent Newspaper, has been reduced as a "ghost" office with citizens and journalists avoiding getting closer to the defunct paper for fear of reprisal from state agents. The paper has prematurely disappeared from the news stand. Citizens hope of getting objective, balanced, accurate and up-to-date news from the Independent has been shattered. For two years now, the Independent had been closed by the Gambian Government. Its Editors and Reporters have been forced into self imposed exile. The chances of getting the paper on the news stand again, is virtually impossible. The state had closed the paper for unexplained reasons. It was shocking to see the paper abandoned for good. No one is talking about re-opening the Independent. Its proprietors have left the country. The few local staff have been rendered unemployed thanks to the Government's hostile private media crackdown. These reporters have families to take care of. The government is not keen at entertaining re-opening the Independent. It brands the paper as "anti government." Its editors dismissed such allegations. Our Correspondent Famara Drammeh visited the former Independent Newspaper and files this report. Correspondent Jammeh also took photograph of the Independent Premises. Please read on…

Security Services & Governance: Implications and Solutions for our Ailing Democracy
Isn't it scary?????.. It is now a little over a decade that a day, week and/or month hardly go by without a rumor and/or news of soldiers' discontent, a coup d'etat in the making, an alleged coup foiled and lately a likely military conflict with our bigger neighbor, Senegal.

Yerro Bah says PK Jarju is a coward!! Sunday, August 26, 2007 (584 reads)
By Yerro Bah
Pa,
Please allow me space to respond to Mr. Afro Jarju's article published in
your August 24 issue.
I think Mr. Jarju and all those who are advocating for a change by force are
out of their minds, and think all Gambians are too. People like Mr. Jarju
should not be listened to. These are losers. Their idle minds do not serve
them anything other than evil, and so because they are cowards, they try to
use others to carry their missions.

How to get rid of Jammeh
By PK Jarju, UK
Everyone is crying out for peace yes
None is crying out for justice
I don't need no peace
I want equal rights and justice
Got to get it
Equal rights and justice
Everyone wants to go to heaven
But nobody wants to die
Just give me my share...

The fact that our precious country is plunging fast into a political jungle where only President Yahya Jammeh and his supporters are fit to survive should be a concern to all, especially to opposition leaders.

The people are wondering: Singhateh in Law School-Town Crier Friday, August 24, 2007 (1957 reads)
By Town Crier.
The other day we were drinking our usual evening "ataya"(chinese green tea) after the close of the day's duties. A comrade of mine brought to our attention that Edward Singhateh has been enrolled with the Gambia University and is studying law. As usual we all started speculating reasons why he chose to study law. Some views are that he is possibly preparing a career so
that when he retires from government, he will have something to do.

Breaking News:Journalist Deyda Hydara's Killers Finally named!! Jammeh masterminds killing!! Thursday, August 23, 2007 (2141 reads)
Deyda Hydara's Killers Finally Named-NIA Official releases scary and damning report!!
Interior Minister Ousman Sonko, Major Musa Jammeh, alias Maliamongu, Late Captain Tumbul Tamba and Lieutenant Kawsu Camara, alias Bombaredeh killed Deyda Hydara-NIA operative alleges!!
"President Jammeh ordered the murder of Hydara."
"Shortly before Deyda was killed, a planned assassination attempt was made on Jawo's life while he was attending a conference at the Sindola Hotel in Kanilai. When that attempt failed, Jammeh vowed to deal with his killers then led by our present Interior Minister Ousman Sonko if the attempt on Hydara's life fails. Hydara was since then put under surveillance by our men in the military to piece together where and when he goes home, out and to. Among the preparations for the mission was the painting of a Mercedes Benz purportedly belonging to Jammeh with a taxi color. I sometime ago said here that the taxi will never be spotted because it has long since been deposited. However, when Jammeh was told that The Point newspaper was to celebrate its thirteenth birthday on December 16, 2004, he promises to give Deyda a surprise. He said: "I am going to give him a birthday surprise that Gambians will never forget." Readers might think that I am making empty allegations, but all that I am saying here is nothing but the truth. At this point, I will call on Bajinka to speak out before I spill the beans. He knows a lot about what I am talking about." The NIA official posited.
.jpg) Facts are emerging regarding the murder of prominent Gambian journalist Deyda Hydara. Ever since accusing fingers had been directed at the Jammeh government as the perpetrators of the journalist's demise. Writing under the banner of self styled pen name Serge PMJ, a senior member of Gambia's intelligence Agency, the (NIA) has released damaging revelations regarding Hydara's murder. The NIA operative in a detailed and damning report explained how President Jammeh ordered his hit men to take the life of Deyda Hydara. Interior Minister Ousman Sonko, Major Musa Jammeh, Lieutenant Kawsu Camara, alias Bombardeh and the late Captain Tumbul Tamba have been named as the killers of Deyda Hydara. The Gambian leader assigned the said individuals to kill the late journalist. Former Gambia Press Union Demba Ali Jawo, Former BBC Banjul Correspondent Ebrima Sillah and others were also lined up to be killed by the above mentioned Jammeh hit men, according to this classified intelligence report filed by Serg PMJ. Below is the full text of Serg's report. Please read on…..

Food and Hygiene and Safety Unit of the Ministry of Health has put a ban on the sale of chicken leg "afra" on the streets of the country. This ban comes especially when many poor people cannot afford the cost of an hotel chicken that is so expensive. Poor strugglers would depend on the grilled chicken leg that is sold on the streets. They are well prepared with enough maggi and other condiments.
