Private Eye With Gambiasara-Soldiers Should Please Allow Voters To Decide Their Destiny Friday-NO More Coups! Wednesday, September 20, 2006 (380 reads)
Last
Word! We are all sick and tired of Yaya Jammeh and his failed APRC
administration, but never again shall the Gambian people accept
forceful means of taking over state control.
As
we have less than 24 hours to the country’s red letter day, I thought
it fitting to use this medium and make a final appeal to our opposition
political leaders, Hon. Halifa Sallah of the National Alliance for
Democracy and Development (NADD) and Lawyer Ousainou Darboe of the
Alliance for Regime Change ARC which comprises of the UDP/ NRP /GPDP,
the security forces and the general public. My
appeal to the political leaders has been made in one of my write-ups in
the past on what favor you can do to us ordinary Gambians. You have
failed the Gambian people for not agreeing to unite under one umbrella
and contest the incumbent Yaya Jammeh and his APRC knowing fully that
it’s a simple majority system. In short there will be no second round
of voting. Your disintegration led him to easily win the elections
which will be formalised early next week by the IEC and the Attorney
General, Tijan Hydra.

Breaking News:A Dying Military Man & Father Ask Son To Seek Forgiveness, especially on April 10-11 Wednesday, September 20, 2006 (510 reads)
A Dying Military Man & Father Ask Son To Seek Forgiveness, especially on April 10-11
With
barely few hours to Gambia's Presidential elections shocking
revelations are emerging relating to the gruesome murder of 14 unarmed
Gambian students, as one of the soldiers linked to the killings
confessed to his son prior to his demise recently claiming that he took
part in the killings and therefore appealed for forgiveness from
bereaved families. A mail purportedly authored by the soldier's son
says his father died of stroke and had asked him to convey to the
Gambian people that he the late soldier was one of those who
participated in the beating and killing of the students on April
10TH,2000. The Freedom Newspaper was contacted by a third party who
asked us to publish the kid's mail which was emailed to him few days
ago. Our source says he made numerous attempts to get into contact with
the said kid, but without success. He releases his home and office
phone number to him, but the kid never contacted him back yet. In the
event, the kid have the courage to talk to our source, we will
facilitate local and international organizations to interview him. This
kids seems to have gathered a lot from his late father who he says died
of stroke. Below is unedited mail of the kid forwarded to the Freedom
Newspaper by a fan of the paper. Please read on...

Gambia's struggle to embrace democracy Wednesday, September 20, 2006 (377 reads)
Gambia's president is nothing if not imposing, some might say regal.
Jammeh is red hot favourite to win
|
Perched through the sunroof of his black stretch limo, Yahya Jammeh has
been criss-crossing the tiny West African nation, throwing T-shirts to
his people, urging them to vote for him in Friday's elections.
Scrums break out as his supporters fight over the white and green tops, and everywhere you go you can spot people wearing them.
"Vote for peace and prosperity" billboards - the
slogan of Mr Jammeh's Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and
Construction (APRC) party - have also been going up in the last
frenetic days of the campaign.
Fear
But the same cannot be said for supporters of his two rivals, Ousainou Darboe and Halifa Sallah.
None of their posters or T-shirts are
visible and their party colours - yellow and grey respectively - are
only seen at campaign meetings.
"In Africa we're scared. You only speak
when you're in favour of the government," says a man who works at one
of The Gambia's many tourist resorts.
But the president - a one-time army
lieutenant who came to power in 1994 in a bloodless coup and has won
two elections since - has a large, loyal and vocal following.

PANORAMA with 'Bulfaaleh'-IEC Carayol warned reporters before and secret vote % on a note in the state house? Wednesday, September 20, 2006 (327 reads)
IEC'S Carayol, isn't he sending a signal with deep hidden motives?
For
those who know the connections between Carayol,William John Joof,Susan
Wafaa Ogoo and others within President Jammeh's circle cannot but hold
the IEC chairman with contempt. He is the least on the line to be
trusted. He cannot be impartial,he was chosen to end this line of dirty
tricks. Carayol is so close to the Wafaa Ogoo clique in town.
This
very Carayol is a very close ally of people like Harry Sambou the
present director general of the NIA. Him and Harry used to complain
about everything and nothing accoridng to the source I spoke to. Carayol
has since been working endlessly in helping establish a hard cover for
President Jammeh. There are people in Banjul following the trend
Carayol has chosen to follow all these past weeks. First he used the
print media to send his signal of hidden dirty tricks. He warned
journalists not to rush and publish the results before receiving the
green light from the IEC. And this IEC is appointed by a contender in
the name of Mr Yaya Jammeh? And we have the SOS of Justice Cheikh Tijan
Hydara jubilating because he succeeded in amending the constitution on
two occasions only to help rigg the elections? First of all him and
Jammeh attacked the essence of a second round because they know very
well Jammeh can never win an election where a second round exists. This
part was taken off the constitution to favour President Jammeh. Second
Hydara and Jammeh again took out the essence of the validity of people
holding voting cards. They used three places to help spin a loud cry
which is meant to threaten the voters. They used the house of
assembly,the daily observer and GRTS.

PANORAMA with 'Bulfaaleh'-President Jammeh's deal leaks-Mrs Faith in UK was duped and threatened. Wednesday, September 20, 2006 (383 reads)
Mrs Faith is a Gambian giver who lives in the UK. Mrs
Faith is a Gambian living abroad. She is said to be residing in the UK.
According to my source Faith is well connected with hospitals and
Construction companies. "Her own husband is known in other parts of Africa and Europe" my
source said. The husband I was told is originally from Ivory Coast.
When Mrs Faith came to The Gambia in the early twenties her aim was to
give. She fulfilled her dream because she gave a sophisticated
ambulance to the health sector through President Jammeh's clutches.
According to the soldier I spoke to this morning, the ambulance was
later on hijacked by Jammeh only to be used as one of those "hooters"
following his noisy convoy in town. Did President Jammeh hand over the
actual ambulance,Mrs Faith shipped to The Gambia in favour of the
targeted beneficiaries? Him President Jammeh is known for hijacking
donations and then give out older vehicles he chose to park at his pool
in Kanilai for months and months.

Behind Yahya Jammeh’s arrogant wall-Journalist Jawara Writes From Seattle Wednesday, September 20, 2006 (488 reads)
By Journalist Muhammed Jawara, Seattle Washington
Behind Yahya Jammeh’s arrogant wall In real democracies---no, the countries aspiring to be democratic, there is always hope future may be bright. Oppressed
people would point to the fact that reforms, political or social, may
lead to a state in which everyone has a chance to lead a decent life. Leaders
would set standards for themselves that would enable their subjects to
question the questionable and give credit where it’s due. Then
there would be some sort of openness that enables transparency to
dictate the daily dealings of state affairs, and leaders would see
themselves as servants who should be accountable to their subjects. These are all ideals of democracy. Critics
argue that there is no such country that is fully democratic, not even
the countries that consider themselves as the champions of democracy. However, some countries are more democratic than others.
Jawara sent Jammeh to the cleaners!

Freedom Newspaper Mail Bag:What our readers say today!!! Wednesday, September 20, 2006 (341 reads)
By TownCrier.
Editor, even though my mail may arrive late at your table, do me a favor and publish my opinion before elections in Gambia.
I have
been following discussions, news, contribution, poems and claims and
counter claims in your papers. It makes good reading and a day hardly
passes by without me looking at your paper. Sometimes I find it hard to
believe that Gambians will say what they say and do what they do. I do
not at this time wish to go into any details as this may draw me into
unnecessary polemics for which I do not have the time right now.

News:President Jammeh Embarks On Unscheduled Meeting in Serre-Kunda-As
UDP Leader Leaves Brikama For Serre-Kunda This Evening!
Opposition Leaders Trying To Avoid A Clash Between The APRC And Their Supporters!!
UDP Leader To Hold A Mass Rally In Sedaclub Tonight....
By Our Roving Reporter
Incumbent
President Yahya Jammeh is making last minutes rush to hold an
unscheduled meeting in Serre-kunda near the primary school signaling
that his supporters might likely clash with the UDP convoy which left
Brikama this afternoon for Serre-kunda, where flag bearer lawyer
Ousaniou Numukunda Darboe and his jubilant party supporters and
officials were scheduled to hold a mass rally at Sedaclub. Well placed
sources hinted that Jammeh's unscheduled Serre-Kunda meeting might lead to
possible violence as his cheering supporters had earned themselves with
the reputation of being trouble makers during last days before polling.
It was exactly around this time around in 1996 when a UDP convoy were
intercepted at the Denton Bridge by armed guards led by Agriculture
Minister Yankuba Touray and Baba Jobe, where they mercilessly tortured the
opposition supporters and officials. The barbaric and the inhumane
treatment of the opposition supporters led to the death of former UDP
drummer Kaibutay Jahfuna and Sedia Sanyang a former executive member of
the UDP. Again, in the last days of the 2002 Presidential elections
campaign, a team of state guard soldiers led by SGT.Kawsu Camara now
lieutenant disrupted the UDP Talinding meeting, where they shot and
killed an opposition supporter. An early morning source told the
Freedom Newspaper that the Gambian leader is posed to provoke another
electoral violence with his scheduled Serre-Kunda meeting.
Is Jammeh looking for trouble again???
