Breaking News:Gamtel/Gamcel Sale Elicit Questions of Redundancy Wednesday, September 19, 2007 (842 reads)
By Baboucarr Senghore & Abba A.S. Gibba
The Secretary of State for communication, Information and Technology, Mrs Neneh Macdouall-Gaye, has observed that the government of the Gambia has decided to find a strategic partner for Gamtel/Gamcel so as to inject the necessary capital to increase coverage and improve quality of service. Mrs. Macdouall-Gaye was responding to a question posed by the Minority Leader who was seeking to know whether the sale would not cause any redundancy. “Gamtel over the years has deteriorated greatly in terms of service provision, service quality and accessibility. It experienced stagnation in network expansion at a time when population increase, boom in business and transforming the economy into a technology-driven one require robustness, dynamism and strong competitiveness for any operator in the business of telecommunication,” she said.

President Jammeh Ordered For the Killing of Edward and Peter Singhatey-Lamarana Jallow Exposes! Wednesday, September 19, 2007 (3113 reads)
President Jammeh Ordered For the Killing of Edward and Peter Singhatey-Lamarana Jallow Exposes!
……General Tamba, Major Musa Jammeh and others to coordinate the planned killing
I got Jammeh’s Voice on Tape-says Lamarana Jallow.
By Lamarana Jallow, Son Of The Gambia.
Dear Editors,
I write with heavy heart this morning as I learnt about the sinister plans hatched by the President against the two Singhateys. At a meeting held in Kailai, the President said he wants to see the two Singhateys disappeared. He is very angry with Edward in particular. General Lang Tombong Tamba, Major Musa Jammeh, others and myself witnessed the secret meeting. Already, some soldiers had been assigned to watch the activities of the two Singhateys. These soldiers are well trained COMMANDOS specialized in hit and run drive off, secret murders and abductions. Since my identity is being pursued by the Agency’s Counter Intelligence Wing, I will refrain from going into details before they will suspect who Lamarana Jallow is. I work here at the State House. I handles the President’s official and private errands. I must hasten to add that I have never killed, harassed or oppressed Gambians. My association with the President is purely on professional line. I’m a trained intelligence operative. I have been working here since Sir Dawda’s time and Jammeh will leave me here by the grace of God.

Breaking News:Top NIA Official Serg PMJ Declassifies Gambia's Most Wanted List!!! Tuesday, September 18, 2007 (1093 reads)
A top official of Gambia’s National Intelligence Agency, writing under the self styled pen name Serg PMJ has declassified a list of Gambia’s most wanted persons by the state. Serg whose true identity is creating a big shake up at the agency, in this dispatch catalogued the names of Gambians and non Gambian wanted by the Gambian Government. The Intelligence official raises some concerns regarding the authenticity of the earlier wanted list filed by one of his proclaimed colleagues Lamin Sanneh. Serg says the said list is routinely updated by the Agency. He pointed out that some of names of the wanted persons were omitted for security reasons. Below is Serg’s report. Please read on….
Dear Editors
I hate to comment on stories published on your widely respectably read online medium and neither do I like discrediting authors of your stories because it is a crusade that we are all engaged in but I tend to question the authenticity of the list published on Freedom Newspaper yesterday. I was going to give it a blind eye but I could not hold it in my chest that I am forced to forward you the lists of wanted people by the Gambia government. I don’t know the self proclaim NIA neither am I interested to know but I do know that we do not have such a list. Not to my knowledge as a senior officer of the Agency although some of the names are featured in our lists. I must state at this point that some of the names have been deliberately omitted in some of the categories because these are people that cannot go unpunished. These are people that I myself will pounce on anytime they step foot on the Gambian soil. They mercilessly terrorise and rob Gambians and have to face the consequences.
The categories are five: Military Category A, B; Civilian Category; Journalists Category and Foreigners Category. It is also worth mentioning that the lists are updated regularly. Anyway until then Peace.

Soap is not foam but soap causes foam. Foam is not hard but foam covers soap! Once again Sey Pulloh's name has been scratched by wondering path-finders. Paths are not wrath so why use wrath when walking along these paths? Wanted dead or alive! Param! Who is the path-finder here? Choosing is not losing. What did I choose? Honour! What did they choose? Snoozing the noise behind those choices! Do I really trust this frost?

Breaking News:Mighty Singhatey Has Fallen!! Has Singhatey Resigned or what? Monday, September 17, 2007 (2574 reads)
Mighty Singhatey Has Fallen!!
Jammeh Fired Singhatey- Edu stripped off his Ministerial Position and APRC General Secretary
Controversy Surrounds Singhatey's removal- Sources say Edu Resigns and not fired as claimed by the government.
"Edward's application was approved. There is no doubt in my mind that he cannot run his Ministry at the same time going to school. He wanted some break, but HE is not willing to accept his resignation. HE also hates to see Eward to graduate with a degree, when he Jammeh have no degree at hand. The whole matter was surrounded by grudge and envy. Edu was never sacked. He resigned longtime ago. The most honorable thing Jammeh could have done was to thank the Minister for the valuable services he had rendered to his government and the people of The Gambia. Creating such a false alarm is the least desirable. We are not aware of any problem between Jammeh and Edu. HE needs to be bold enough to accept the man's resignation in good faith and move on. This's what a good leader should do and not to lie." said a source close to the Minister's family.
There is an environment of uncertainty within Jammeh's cabinet, as The Gambian leader parted with one of his longest serving Ministers in the person of Edward Singhatey. Mr.Singhatey who recently surprises his colleagues by enrolling into Gambia's University Law School, tendered his resignation letter to the government on the grounds of pursuing higher Education. His reasons were that his studies might interfere with his Ministerial duties and as such he needed a private life to pursue his law ambition. Singhatey resignation was put on hold as the Head of State was yet to decide his fate. But it appears that the President is overreacting to Singhatey's move to call a day with his government. In a statement broadcast on National Television Monday evening, the government announces the immediate removal of Forestry and Environment Minister Edward Singhatey. Singhatey has been replaced by his Permanent Secretary Kotu Cham. The former Army Captain also lost his APRC General Secretary portfolio according to the State house release.

Scales reacts to Freedom Lead story! Monday, September 17, 2007 (338 reads)
By Michael Scales, UK
Dear Mr.Editor,
I must admit to not being very well at the moment ,due to a N.H.S. dentist discharging my poor tooth with all the dexterity of Greg Norman extracating his golf ball from deep rough.I did suggest to her to show me some mercy....and save the tooth and extract me instead. It would have been much more humane. My Nigerian wife cannot understand why i persist with the N.H.S. and suffer so much ,whilst i can obviously afford to go "private".Again,I must admit to failing to make her realise the heavy principal involved to this working class boy made good .She reminded me of last year in Abuja...when i walked through the door ,paid £5 and was treated to a much higher standard of care than here in G.B.The further announcement from our Prime Minister, that he is considering changing Immgration rules to admit only accademically qualified applicants who can speak English fluently...is set to deprive Africa of more of its "finest"....For this i sincerly appologise.Proberbly the reason so why many Ministers in the Gambia are trying so hard to get a place in your only University. So many have been deposited into the elephants graveyard of late.My wife has 9 "A" levels and speaks the Queens english to diplomatic standard,Along with passing her entrance exams to University, making this iliterate and uneducated englishman..very proud.May i also say how incredably embarressed i am at being 12th on the most wanted list ahead of the extremly capable talent of Fatou Jaw Manneh..and award winning journalist ,
Musa Saidy Khan....However, i am highly honoured to be awarded the title of personna non gratia along with the United Nations Representative..and our own Highly intelligent and pro Gambian, Mr.Bharat Joshi.I remain extremly unworthy of such reveered company. The exercise of writing on Freedom has shown me who my true friends are in the Gambia and who crawled so easily under rocks to distance themselves from me.The ones who sat outside my room allnight remain standing..and the others i gave expensive chatels have long gone. The moral of this is clear..true friends are of the heart and not the pocket.
I will not give a kneejerk reaction...to withdraw the offer of sponsering a nationwide soccer tournament for the first two divisions in the Gambia in January accompanied by a similar tournament for the minor leagues. This i believe has been accepted in principal by a member of the G.F.A. But of course..they can distance themselves from my offer at there further consideration.Ghana and Nigeria have been asking me very politely for some sponsership for sometime.However... i am not spiteful neither am i prone to provercation. My interests has always been honerable..to the children of The Gambia...presently standing at over £150,000 and taking not one penny back. I hope this does not put off anyone who wishes to invest in the children of The Gambia.....Appologies for my brevity of late....Pain is a great leveler....Ouch !!!
I remain ...Michael.
