Refusal to reopen Zongo murder investigation called "astonishing and biased"
Reporters Without Borders said today it was stunned by the Burkina Faso public prosecutor's refusal to reopen the investigation into the 1998 murder of journalist Norbert Zongo and three companions on the grounds that the document the organisation gave him on 20 October did not constitute new evidence as defined by article 189 of the code of criminal procedure.Public prosecutor Adama Sagnon announced at a press conference on 21 October that the original, unedited version of the report issued by an Independent Commission of Enquiry in 1999, which Reporters Without Borders had given him the day before, "does not contribute anything new to the case." Attorney general Abdoulaye Barry described it as "information that is already known."

Vice Chairman Sabally Was A Serial killer-Reports Suggest-Sabally's beef with Koro Ceesay! Sunday, October 22, 2006 (1376 reads)
Vice Chairman Sabally Was A Serial killer-Reports Suggest
Did Sabally Had a Beef With Koro Ceesay Before his imprisonment?
Should He Be Handed To The International Court Of Justice For Trial?
The Senegalese government should help to hand over Sana B Sabally former AFPRC Vice Chairman to the International Court of Justice for the atrocities he committed over the years against our people. Now that it has been confirmed that Sabally's dream for Western asylum had failed, efforts should be made for the former rude boy to face criminal proceedings for the crimes he committed against our people. Sabally is one of the deadliest Gambians I have ever seen in my life. Sanna murdered Gambian soldiers in cool blood in November of 1994. It's time for Gambians in Dakar, Senegal and all over the world to lobby for this murderer and persecutor to be handed to the International criminal court of Justice. Sabally will never settled in the West as he killed, tortured, persecuted and exiled our loved ones in a span of one year. If reports from Dakar are to go by Sabally is on the verge of going mad. The former soldier is very desperate these days and is often seen walking around the city trying to earn a living. Sabally is reaping what he sow yesterday. The amount of blood he spilled on our soil is unimaginable and shall continue to be hunted by such atrocities.

Breaking News:Has Fatou Jahumpa Ceesay Accuses President Jammeh of Being A Betrayer? Weeping crowd storm Balla's house after been sacked!
By Staff Writer Karafa Badjie
Unimpeachable sources close to the Jahumpa family say Fatou Jahumpa Ceesay has been complaining about the way the Gambian leader humiliated her brother Balla Gaba Jahumpa. Fatou Jahumpa was quoted as saying that Balla spent days and night in the upcountry canvassing for votes for the Gambian President only to be sacked. According to the source FJC'S expectation to get a Ministerial job was also shattered as the President never named her in his new cabinet appointment. Balla Jahumpa is a blood brother to Fatou Jahumpa Ceesay. Balla's sacking according to the source I spoke today has been greeted with rude shock by the Jahumpa family who are openly accusing President Jammeh of being a betrayer. "Balla and his family including FJC are very angry. At a family meeting were they met to urge Balla to continue to put his faith in God, FJC said the APRC was being undermined by people who harbored hatred against Banjulians. She told Balla to keep the faith while threatening that those who conspired against Balla will soon face the consequences. Looking at the lady, I can read that she way very upset with Jammeh's decision to remove her brother."said a source who visited Balla shortly after his removal.

Daily Observer Management Censors Coup Suspect's Torture Claim!
Gambia's pro-government Newspaper, the Daily Observer is once gain hell bent on censoring torture claims advanced by one of the coup suspects Captain Yaya Darboe. While the Point Newspaper reported about Captain Darboe's torture claim to our surprise the Observer butchered their story by censoring testimonies relating to torture or abuse of prisoners. Darboe lamented in court the way one of his torturers who self styled himself as Hell Manager treated him while at the NIA torture chambers. Darboe's scary testimony was admitted as evidence by the military tribunal tasked with deciding the fate of the accused persons. We all know that the accused persons are charged with capital offence involving treason. The media, the court and local staff have a big responsibility ahead of them. Justice should guide our actions while covering such a high profile case. The type of journalism the Observer under the leadership of Saja Taal is practicing is dangerous and irresponsible to say the least. In as much as the Observer wants to cover the dictatorship's vicious acts, it should bear in mind that evidence adduced before a competent court of law are public information and should not be censored to favor certain group of people. As reporters, we should report the news faithfully, accurately, objectively without biased.

Darboe's testimony which sent shocking waves around the court room confirms earlier reports that the detainees were tortured while in custody. According to Darboe, Hell Manager beat the hell out of him as he told him that he came to see Hell Fire. He told the court that he was in handcuffed after he was dragged into the NIA torture cells where Hell Manager emerges to inform him that he was supposed to deal with him at the torture sessions.
