The administration of President Yahya Jammeh, claimed to have intercepted a coup speech drafted by the alleged coupists, which the government says would be read on GRTS today at 9PM. Many local observers here believed that the said coup speech might be manufactured by the Jammeh government in a bid to incriminate the detainees some of whom say they don’t have a clue about the alleged coup attempt, despite being forced to sign cautionary statements.

Raif Diab, a Lebanese Gambian businessman, has been arrested, the Freedom Newspaper can reveal. Mr. Diab had a shop just around the Central Bank of The Gambia and his arrest is being seen as a witch hunt directed against the Lebanese community in The Gambia, by President Jammeh. Mr.Diab, was arrested alongside with other civilians in the tiny West African country after been linked to the alleged abortive coup.

Unconfirmed revelations from a usually reliable source within the Jammeh administration has revealed as follows.

That the PDB-Presidential daily brief which in most cases comes from the NIA was intercepted? It was read and decoded by a female who was driving with the intelligence officials to the state house.How could the lady do it? She was placed within the midst of Jammeh's close circles by concerned Gambians.

Reports reaching the Freedom Newspaper say the Immigration Director Musa Mboob, who was on the run was apprehended around Karang, near The Gambian and the Senegalese border. Mr. Mboob is said to be in the hands of alleged foiled coup investigators. He joined the list of top security chiefs and the civilian community arrested in connection with Tuesday’s alleged foiled coup attempt.

EDITORIAL

Banjul is far from stable contrary to President Jammeh’s claims that the country was in good shape to host the African Union Summit. We are calling on the African Union to relocate the much talked about Summit to another stable country, in the Sub-region. The internal differences within the army and various security agencies are clear example for the Summit to be moved to another country. Hosting the Summit is a good thing for our country, but we should always remember that in the absence of peace, there cannot be any meaningful development. Jammeh, should focus on peace and economic maintenance, as the two are badly lacking in The Gambia today.

AU SHOULD MOVE THE SUMMIT TO ANOTHER COUNTRY!!!

Mr. President, Gambians want evidence in the alleged foiled coup. In the absence of evidence, your claims will be doubted by sober minded Gambians. It is evident that your administration is in the business of framing innocent Gambians that they have fallen out with. It is getting to one week and yet there is no credible evidence advanced by the investigators. The forced confession torture reports, we are hearing are very, very worrying, Mr. President. The detainees rights should be respected, even if found liable of any offence by a competent court. Spare their lives for God shake.

GRTS should be mindful of causing a rift between Wade,Jammeh and Nino Viera.

It is understood very well that so many functionaries are scared of Jammeh's wrath these days but does this warrant such irresponsible reports on the air? Despite their insecurity let them also bear in mind that what they say could cause a problem between our country and its neighbours.It is totally irresponsible for Bora Mboge to send a news item like what was read on the GRTS regarding Ndure Cham's case.Both Neneh Macdoll and Mboge are fuelling tensions between Banjul,Dakar and Bissau.How can these goons use titles like Gambians need Cham back?

Analysing the new breed-Jammeh's case is a very sad story.

It is amazing to see President Jammeh use government functionaries handle positions at the IEC and call it an Independent Commission? It was widey believed that Harry Sambou was a misfit at the IEC.Yes he was a misfit for decent democrats but he was so fit in that position when it comes to the APRC's legacy.Mr Sambou has been with the NIA before receiving his marching orders in the past. Sambou was known as 'Tammeh' or a filter per se.He was called this 'Tammeh' because he leaked the secrets that were supposed to be kept in the NIA files for years.
