As President Jammeh Murdered Journalist Chief Manneh
.....GPU USA Petitioned President Obama!!!!
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
On behalf of the GPU-USA, I have just submitted a petition to the Gambian people and the International Community demanding that President Yahya Jammeh and the Government of the Gambia immediately produce Journalist Chief Ebrima Manneh to assure his family and the general public that he is alive. The petition is prompted by a statement by Attorney General Marie Saine-Firdaus on April 6, 2009 that Chief Manneh is not in the custody of the Gambian state. Manneh was picked up around July 7, 2006 by agents of Gambia's secret police, the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), who are driectly answerable to Jammeh. Please take a moment to read and sign this petition in support of Chief Manneh's case, for the cause of humanity, and against impunity.

Gambia must account for missing journalist Ebrima Manneh-CPJ Tells Yahya Jammeh!!!
New York, April 14, 2009—Gambian authorities must authoritatively account for the whereabouts, health, and legal status of journalist “Chief” Ebrimah Manneh, who was taken into government custody by security agents in July 2006, the Committee to Protect Journalists said today. Authorities, who have held Manneh in secret locations since the arrest, have provided conflicting and incomplete accounts this month regarding his status. In a report published today, Agence France-Presse quoted an unnamed senior police source as saying that plainclothes government agents took Manneh from the Mile Two Prison sometime last year. The source, who said agents seized Manneh from the prison in the middle of the night, speculated that the journalist is no longer alive, AFP reported.

Breaking News: The Big Interview: The Watchman Talk Tough Against Bullies!!!! Monday, April 13, 2009 (1150 reads)
The Big Interview: The Watchman Talk Tough Against Bullies!!!!
“ My Lawyer Will Be In Court To Represent Me on Any Case Filed Against The Freedom Newspaper,” Watchman Posited
Ever since his emergence into Gambia’s online community, the self-styled Gambian watchman has been making headline news. The watchman is not stranger to controversies, as he engaged members of the media into a constructive debate. While his real identity continues to attract more attention among The Gambian Community, the watchman remarked “It’s more about a tactical choice than fear. Anonymity allows me to focus on the goal of objective assertion and that alone. As evidenced by some past episodes, anytime a sensitive writer or journalist pens an article or other work using their real identities, they succumb to the emotional pitfall of deeming any critique of their work an assault on their person. There is no professional decoupling. Anonymity detaches me from these foibles. It also helps in misleading anyone intent on locating my person. I cherish privacy immensely.” In an exclusive interview with the US based Freedom Newspaper, the Watchman said the Freedom Editors should not waste their precious time worrying themselves about legal actions coming from any quarters. “That won’t happen and you need not lose sleep over it. If any thin-skinned individual shoots from the hip and decides to take legal action, they are among the many that have bought into the permanent American fallacy that litigation solves everything, including petty and unfounded grudges. Your medium is protected by numerous laws and measures that I’d rather no go into at the moment. The colic babies crying wolf and making threats about taking you to court are public figures in a domain where sedition, defamation and blackmail have strict statutes that prevent any Tom, Dick and Harry from abusing them just because their “family” has been put under the microscope. If that were the case Pa, Jay Leno would have been tossed in jail. If that were the case Pa, the creators of Mad Comics would been bankrupted by legal fees. See where I’m going with this?,” he said. While he watchman might not show up in court physically, he said his attorney will represent him in absentia. “My lawyer will. He will do two things: He will protect my right to anonymity and your right to exclusion from any liability. And next, he will make complete clowns of some of the media fraternity over here that always gloat and pompously denounce Yahya Jammeh while refusing to be put under same scrutiny,” Watchman said. Below is the full text of the interview. Please read on………

April 10 Anniversary: Yahya Jammeh, Isatou Njie Saidy, Ambassador Ousman Badjie And Others Blamed For Student Killings!!!
…Former GAMSU President Pays Tribute To His Murdered Colleagues
Nine years after the brutal murder of 14 unarmed Gambian students, justice is yet to be meted out to the perpetrators of such heinous crimes, ever committed in the nation’s history. The students were killed by trigger happy soldiers, during what was considered as a “ peaceful” protest, which turned out to be violent. Close to hundred students were maimed, 14 killed, as they protest against the killing of their colleague Ebrima Barry, and the raping of a middle school student by a member of the paramilitary. Today, is the nine year anniversary of the April 10 and 11 student massacre in The Gambia. A former President of The Gambia Student Union Omar Joof is accusing President Jammeh, Vice President Isatou Njie, and Ambassador Ousman Badjie as the perpetrators of the student killings. Speaking in an exclusive interview with the US based Freedom Newspaper, Mr. Joof said the above the named officials played a leading role towards the killing of his colleagues. He first blasted the Vice President who claimed that the students killed themselves. “The student leadership ruled against the possession of lethal weapons by its membership, even in self-defense. This extreme measure was taken to ensure that we maximally contribute towards maintaining a peaceful atmosphere at the sites of our manifestations. The vice president's assertion in this regard is a slap in the face and an absolute misrepresentation of what really took place. As indicated in the coroner's report, the massacres were effected by members of the national security services,”said Omar Joof. Mr. Joof said the President Yahya Jammeh gave directives for the students to be killed. “The constitutional powers for such an order are bestowed in the presidency in the person of the president of the republic. And there is incontrovertible evidence that president Jammeh himself gave out the orders,” he alleged. Below is the full text of the interview. Please read on.....

Freedom Newspaper: Today is April 10. Can you reflect on the day?
Omar Joof: A very significant day in the sense that it stands without an equal in the anals of student politics in The Gambia. This date and the 11th of the same month, are testimonies of Gambian students' unequivocal rejection of police brutality.
