Gambia and the genesis of dictatorship from military to constitutional coup detat. Tuesday, August 22, 2006 (298 reads)
Gambia and the genesis of dictatorship from military to constitutional coup detat.
By Abdoukarim Sanneh
The
political terrain in the Gambia since 1994 is a transition from one
form of coup detat to another. I always feel over-whelm with
astonishment when our elite politicians usually in constructing their
feverish political debate keep quoting section after section of the
bogus and philistine 1996 constitution as if Gambia under Yaya Jammeh
is operating as a constitutional democracy and shows the political will
to respect that document. The Gambia is not a functional constitutional
democracy and that constitution is been manipulated and hijacked since
the word go to consolidate dictatorship. The only changes from military
rule to so-called constitutional democracy is Yaya Jammehs APRC having
jettisoned the letter f but his absolute power and dictatorial
tendency remain unabated time after time. What we have seen is
unrealistic metamorphosis from a soldier in uniform to a soldier in
plane cloth.

The source of the rumour on OJ'S defection False! Omar Faye's calls revealed- Just In!!!
Kebba Jallow Confirms that Omar Fye indeed telephoned him...
Fye is a real traitor-We expose his file one dossier!!!
By Our Atlanta Georgia Correspondent This
paper's reporters are working tirelessly to make sure that the APRC's
emissaries are not using our national coffers to sell their agenda
within our midst. These efforts are not going in vain. A couple
of minutes ago our news room got the final pieces together. On the
whole Omar Faye of all people was calling his old buddies in the USA
here from The Gambia well before he arrived. The purpose of his endless
calls was to make sure that he could come without any major incident
taking place. If the APRC is that popular then why would Faye be so
concerned about his coming to meet these people Tijan Ceesay calls
sympathizers? Why on earth?
What will gorgi Fye tell Jammeh when
he returns home?

POEM:"AFRICANISM" without "CYNICISM" Monday, August 21, 2006 (283 reads)
Author:-Essa Bokarr SEY.
Africa! you the great mother of these children we know.
Africa! you the great father of these children we know.
"Africanism" cannot be cynical. Isn't it vital? It is!
There was a papyrus we saw on the nile thousands of years ago.
This papyrus had a code,a formular and a theorem on it.
Say Nay Mother Africa! Say Nay to the cynical sons and daughters.
"Cynicism"
slays the ideal with their ideas. "Africanism" aren't you a patient on
a huge stretcher? Do palaces cure patients? Palaces vomit decrees, there
aren't syringes near these bloody claws!
Essa Bokarr Sey, the son of pen and a great mind indeed.

What Could Have Been.
Fatou Jaw Manneh, DC
When NADD
broke up, I was really depressed. I just wander what could have been if
the opposition stayed united. And why is it that they could see the
error of their disagreement. In the end, I came to the realization that
the opposition was not infact as united as they pretended to be.You
would think that The Gambians should be on top of their agenda and not
worry about a presidential candidate. These elections could have been an
easy win if the opposition had remained united.

Fajara Barracks Diary- Major Banjinka shakes internal security in Banjul- Lang Tombong Tamba in Jammeh's bad books these days. Sunday, August 20, 2006 (1059 reads)
Fajara Barracks Diary- Major Banjinka shakes internal security in Banjul- Lang Tombong Tamba in Jammeh's bad books these days.
Accused of aiding and abetting Bajinka
Nia officer Yaya Bajinka fired, as Bajinka case create shake ups at GAF head Quarters.

Major Kalifa Bajinka returned home after he has been assured by his friend and
brother Colonel Lang Tamba that it was safe for him to come home. While
in Nigeria, he was told by Lang Tombong Tamba that he was going to be
promoted upon his return was to take up a new assignment. There has
been wild rumours in town that Lang Tombong has not been reporting to
work for the past days. The said rumours was deliberately created by
the divided army. Lang's day is coming. He has already been classified
as one of those who helped Bajinka to escape. The truth be told, Lang
Tombong Tamba has not absconded from the jurisdiction of the Gambia. He
is in town. Lang is living in uncertainty these days. Jammeh personally
questioned his loyalty since his failure to effect the arrest of Major
Bajinka. Lang Tombong is still talking to Bajinka so we learned. The
two are very close friends and they prefer to die together when things
got worse. Lang Tombong will not hesitate to abandon his new assignment
since he knows what will visit him in days to come. Inside the GAF head
Quarters, officers don't trust each other. While Lang's relationship
with Jammeh has showered, officers like Peter Singhateh, Maseneh Kinteh
and others are being monitored. Jammeh held the belief that these
officers harbored grudges against him. Lang Tombong Tamba has
personally complained about his lack of voice in the military as Jammeh
tells him what to do and what not. His deputies raises concerns about
the President's interference on the military matters and his efforts to
politicize the army, but Lang said to them the issue at hand was beyond
his control. Now the very Lang Tombong Tamba is accused of aiding and
abetting Major Bajinka. There is a big rift in the military.
Colonel Lang Tombong Tamba never absconded but is in big trouble these days!!

Suwokuta with Edy Kabayfu-Atlanta Gambian Community say they are against Jammeh and the APRC!! Sunday, August 20, 2006 (549 reads)
Suwokuta
with Edy Kabayfu-Atlanta Gambian Community say they are against Jammeh
and the APRC-Omar Fye and Ekubobpa forced their way into Sang Marie
gatherings as Youth snubs them at a weekend party
Sarahule businessman say they prefer to help the opposition than to help sinking APRC party!!! Atlanta
Georgia is calling. Ruling APRC militants are busy discussing the
Freedom Newspaper and its determination to expose the very regime they
are trying to defend over the years. Omar Fye, youth Sports Minister,
Tijan Ceesay AKA Ekubopa and other unnamed people are at the centre of
these bad tongues being peddled against the Freedom Newspaper. They
openly asked questions if the Freedom Newspaper staffers were not in
their midst. They cautioned speakers to be mindful about what they said
in their secret gatherings. That we might pen their hate messages
against government perceived opponents. Sang Marie has always been
celebrated in Atlanta by the Gambian community in the US, but this
year's one is a one with a difference. The APRC errand officials are in
Atlanta for politics and not holly crusade. Sadly for them, they fail to
realize that Atlanta is an opposition zone. Omar Gorgi Fye and
Ekubopa cannot bring people out in that area. They don't like Jammeh
and his government. The APRC is a dying party and it banks on public
gathering to sell the image of their battered party. Sang Marie is not
meant for politics, but these shameless officials are running around
Georgia canvassing for support for President Jammeh.

Breaking News:President Jammeh receives over D30 Millions dalasis from the Brufut Villas!!! Sunday, August 20, 2006 (684 reads)
Breaking News:President Jammeh receives over D30 Millions dalasis from the Brufut Villas!!!
Mustapha Njie (TAF) coordinating the sales of the properties. Local business leaders say prices for the villas were expensive!!
By Staff Writer Justice Sam
President
Yahya Jammeh, has started collecting monies he realized from the African
Union villas, in Brufut, as each of the villas were being sold at the
tune of D9 Million dalasis, the Freedom Newspaper can authoritatively
report. The sale of these properties was being coordinated by Mustapha
Njie, AKA Taf Construction. Mr. Njie is said to be President Jammeh's
new errand boy in town. Over 30 Million dalasis has been received by
President Jammeh in respect of the said sale of the Brufut villas. Taf
is not a government official, but sources say he travels with President
Jammeh within and outside of the country. According to our sources, the
Brufut villas were being bought by European tourists. A Gambian
named withheld who had a European husband was one of those who bought
the exorbitant AU villas. Sources say there is no accountability in the
sale process and proceeds of the much talked about villas goes directly
into President Yahya Jammeh's pockets. It is gathered that several
millions of dalasis were realized from the sale of the said properties,
which the government of Taiwan partly funded. President Jammeh is said
to be claiming that he uses his own money to built the villas, even
though private donors such as Taiwan had pumped several millions of
dalasis to ensure the success of the AU Summit. Iran was also said to
have helped him to built such magnificent and luxurious villas.
