Jammeh Exposes Himself, Amnesty International Succeeds And The Gambian State A Laughing Stock Wednesday, October 17, 2007 (1201 reads)
As Incarcerated Politicians See The Light Of Day And Join Their Families
by Our Own Cassandra
It has been more than one year when three politicians of the United Democratic Party were rounded up, tortured, humiliated and detained incommunicado away from people away from life and away from reason across the Gambia. It is without doubt that this tiny West African country with about 11 000 square kilometers could hide anyone. Just in time they were spotted at Sare Ngai Police station and reported, the Government denied, the politicians cried and the Government paid no mine, the human rights organizations complained and the government ignored and the courts ordered yet the government denied ever seeing them or having them in there custody and even when there families did a passion plea when all avenues were exhausted, the government still said "malamba".

British People visiting The Gambia should remain diligent
- Michael Scales
Dear Mr.Editor,
May i thank the Freedom Newspaper for the constructive comments of Mr. Saidy Khan from Louisville, Kentucky.. the home of 3 times World heavyweight boxing Champion.. Muhammed Ali. I am sorry for the delay in responding.. but I have been trying to absorb the speach from President Jammeh and the editorial from the Banjul Observer concerning cyber terrorism. Both reflect on terrorism but in a different way. I have been thinking for some time now about the possible motives of the president in his affliction towards Iran,Venezuela and now Lebanon.

As Yahya Jammeh Faces Crime Against Humanity Charges, Freedom Newspaper, Legal Affairs Correspondent Critically Examines the Rome Statute
By Our Legal Affairs Correspondent
On July 17th 1998 at the Rome Diplomatic Conference (United Nations Diplomatic Conference of Plenipotentiaries on the establishment of the International Criminal Court) the International Community composed of 148 states from all geographical regions of the world ( I belief that the Gambia was not represented at this Rome conference) adopted the Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC). This is why it is sometimes called the Rome Statute. It is not a Charter, it is a Statute. All the major legal systems (common law, civil, Islamic and mixed) of the world were represented and the Statute reflects a delicate balance between these different legal systems.

In appreciation for the release of AI reps- Omar Saidy-Khan Writes From Louisville Monday, October 15, 2007 (413 reads)
By Omar Saidy-Khan, Louisville, KY
That any one with even an infinitesimal amount of intelligence would
find anything appreciative in the release of innocent AI
representatives is quite stupendous.
What is here to be appreciated is the lack of justice and the glue that
holds democracies together, i.e LIBERTY. These AI reps have done
nothing wrong and should never have been arrested at all. We should have
been looking for an apology form your excellency. What mercies have been
rendered? What magnanimity has been meted out towards the alleged
culprits? Please ,Mr Scales answer these questions in the affirmative,
or your appreciations are all hollow and misplaced. Your assumed
constructive criticisms lack any constructiveness, and not useful for
they are purely and simply efforts at appeasement of the tyranny that
prevails in my PAPA'S land. Unless you denounce your advocacies and
support for the dictatorial regime in the Gambia you will lose
credibility with many like me- whether that matters to you is another
question al together .In your former life your support was seen as
misguided, but we must take you seriously. Our struggle is a hard and
viciously challenged by the powers that be and any frivolous attitudes
will not be tolerated.
