….As Jammeh Kills Three Suspected Witches

A late night white horse is creating panic and confusion at the President’s home village of Kanilai, the Freedom Newspaper can reveal. The horse, which emerges unexpectedly at the wee hours, in some occasions dispersed soldiers on guard at the Presidential palace. The speeding horse appeared violent and is posed to harm anyone who tries to obstruct its movement within Kanilai.  A visibly panic stricken Gambia’s President Yahya Jammeh was told by his marabout that some witches in the locality posed as a horse, with the ultimate aim of ending his administration. Jammeh was given a list of suspected witches by the said marabout, some whom were recently killed in Kanilai. Ceesay Jatta was among the murdered suspected witches. At least three suspected witches were killed on the spot.

Gambian Diplomat Charged With Disclosing State Secrets!!!

The Financial attaché at The Gambian Embassy in Washington DC, is currently serving as a guest at the offices of the feared National Intelligence Agency, the Freedom Newspaper has learnt. Lamin Sanyang, the longest serving financial attaché at the DC Mission, has been charged with disclosing official secrets to the US based Freedom Newspaper and as well as economic crimes. Mr. Sanyang, a close confidant of Gambia’s President Yahya Jammeh, cum his business errand boy, had fallen out with the Head of State, amidst reports that he shared “confidential Government communications with the Freedom Newspaper” regarding the financial situation of the embassy, which was a subject of Government probe at the Foreign Ministry level. Sanyang is being grilled over the alleged leakage of the said “ confidential” documents to the Freedom Newspaper, which were under his custodian. The Freedom Newspaper recently publishes verbatim the communications between Mr. Sanyang, the NIA and the Foreign Ministry, pertaining the alleged missing $88,000 dollars at The Gambian Mission. Sanyang had earlier alleges that  he was accused by the recalled NIA attaché at the Embassy Ousman  Taal of embezzling embassy funds, totaling at $88,000 dollars, a charge Mr. Taal emphatically denied. Taal in turn accuses Lamin Sanyang and his colleagues at the embassy of trying to blackmail him with bogus correspondences issued under his name.

 UDP wishes to take this opportunity to wish all Gambians and friends of The Gambia a happy 2009 year.

Year 2008 has been a difficult year for Gambians who believe in democracy and the rule of law. Through out the year 2008 President Jammeh and his regime continuously went on undermining the Constitution by ordering the arrest and disappearance of opponents of his regime like Kanyiba Kanyi a supporter of the UDP and employee of CCF who was arrested on September 18^th, 2006 and the same applied to Journalist Chief Ebrima Manneh of the Daily Observer who was also arrested on July 7^th 2006 by officers of the NIA one of them by the name Corporal Sey, since then they are kept incommunicado.
