…..FJC Is A Girl Friend To Staff SGT. Sana Manjang

Would you not mind replacing F,J.C, and S.O.S.Nenneh Macdol Gaye, while you move Lit. Col. Mass Kinteh on International appointment, re- deploy Interior Minister Ousman Sonko to the Barracks soon.

“Mr. President, the Dictator Jammeh, can you watch out for the next July 22nd celebrations if that time finds you as the president, I mean. Please watch out for the Gun salutes for you should ............. We know what are telling you. We are planted in the N.I.A to join hands with the heads to save you but we think you are not safe at all, because most people thought that you had a bullet prove, but turns to be different that you are not is only Allah the most great that is protecting you.”

We wish to apologize for not been able to come online as promised earlier. This was due to circumstances beyond our control. Our lines were dead, but are finally restored. We had to call Gamtel to restore the lines or else they will be in the news. They have no alternative but to comply with our instructions. Both the SOS and his Permanent Secretary assured us that everything was okay as we penned this maiden publication.

Jammeh's assets will be frozen one day-Carnegie-Crispin Johnson will be sacrificed!

By Hammadi Maasinah

The noise is too much, the dust is too thick. The dust will settle, there will be total and deadly silence in Banjul when the truth is revealed. The press conference organized by Crispon Johnson,Neneh Mcdoll and Firdaus was another "cry wolf". How many times has Yahya Jammeh instigated such moves before our eyes for the past 13 years? This character has always been feeding on fabrication upon fabrication. Still there are Gambians who cannot see the light?! Earlier Yahya used people like Baba Jobe to do the dirty work-Alimenta's case made a bad name for Baba and the IG of police at the time. The end result was just too bad! The Gambia paid a lot of euros to the departing Swiss company simply because we have an insane, disrespectful bandit in power called Yahya Jammeh. Hans Benjamin and his team were no fools, they reserved a lot of tactics against Jammeh because they were informed from the on set that the man changes like a crazy chameleon every hour! His mood swings are worse than many criminally insane minds. After all the same President used every method he had at his disposal to stop Alimenta from winning at a court of law.

Pot calling kettle black - Alhaji Kanteh Tribalist

By Tumani Manneh, Banjul.

Pa Nderry,

Please allow me space in your respectable newspaper to add to the debate about tribalism. It is very interesting to note that birds of the same feather flock together. I have no sympathy for Samsudeen Sarr, he must live with the consequences for what he created but it is also disheartening to see tribalist coming out of the woodworks playing Mr nice. This brings me to the charlatan Alhaji Kanteh, everybody who is or was a member of the GNA knows that Alhaji Kanteh is the biggest tribalist. He is one of those officers who thought that Jawara was not Mandinka enough. He was often heard at Yundum barracks saying that Gambians should have to accept the Mandingo factor.

Michael Scales On Dida Halaki and SOS Johnson
Saturday, February 16, 2008 (418 reads)

Dear Mr.Editor,
I must admit to" chuckling " away here merrily at the front page of the Daily Observer. At the one hand we have Gambian Foreign Secretary Crispin Gray Johnson convening an extra ordinary press conference at my "second home", the Corinthia Atlantic Hotel. The merits of which are to reassure potential foreign investors that the Gambia is "safe" for there considered investments. He proclaims that Carnegie Minerals was ripping off The Gambia, then says" ah! but it is subject to an on going police investigation".One hopes that he realises he may have prejudiced Carnegie's rights to a full hearing  by declaring them "guilty" before the first shot is fired.

The Anachronism of Tribal Politics and the need for Forgiveness and Reconciliation- Writes Captain Kanteh

By Capt(Rtd) Alhajie Kanteh

Dear Editor,

Allow me space to add my voice to the call for restraint in wake of the outrage following the introduction of a controversial thread by Lt. Col. Samsedeen Sarr- tribalism in our body politics. Like many others I have failed to locate the rational behind such a divisive issue as a subject of debate within the Gambian fraternity.

I hear the voices screaming-“Yes We Can”-Obama

“What I am suggesting, Americans, is that come this November, if either Obama or Clinton is the Democratic candidate, you should prove that you’re ready to move forward. You should prove that you’re ready to elect a woman or an African American based not solely on their qualifications, but because they are an African American or a woman. Obama and Clinton are both qualified for the position.” says the Erstwhile Independent Newspaper Managing Editor.

            I hear the voices screaming-“Yes We Can”-Obama

To paraphrase Benjamin Hooks: If black people in America knew what white people had in store for them, they would not be able to get out of bed in the morning. This statement exemplifies what has for too long been white American sentiment, a sentiment that of course still lingers in the hearts and minds of some white Americans.

Gambian ambassador denies claim

By Jenny W. Hsu
STAFF REPORTER
Thursday, Feb 14, 2008, Page 3

Gambian Ambassador Mawdor Juwara yesterday denied allegations that he had pocketed money meant for Gambian students studying in Taiwan. In an interview with the Taipei Times, Juwara said the allegations came as a "great shock." The fund, valued at 5,000 euros (US$7,300), was given to the 81 students by Gambian President Yahya Jammeh during a visit to Taiwan in December. The students said it was customary for the president to give them money whenever he visits the country. The allegations were made last week by one of the students, who sent an anonymous letter to the US-based Freedom Newspaper accusing Juwara of keeping the money for his own use. The writer also accused embassy employees of corruption and using the students as a "front" to solicit more funds from the their government.

BUSH PROPOSES VISIT TO AFRICA-PARTNERSHIP AND OPPORTUNITIES! Says Ambassador Sey!

BUSH PROPOSES VISIT TO AFRICA-PARTNERSHIP AND OPPORTUNITIES!

Author:Essa Bokarr SEY.

My take on this proposed visit to our continent is based on past and present experience, for the general and for the specific. Who says Bush has no past and present connections with Africa? For the specific I will ask any peeping critic and my own self the above leading question. I will also give an explicit answer to this question...then leave interested parties nibble the rest at their own pace. Different versions can be shared within and without Africa as answers for that matter. I cannot control the way analysts or researchers will attend to this question. Neither can I propose how writers, critics or journalist will analyse these contents! However,I would also expect these very peeping critics to respect my own side of this thought-provoking article.

BUILDING A BETTER WORLD : GRASS- ROOTS CONFLICT ASSESTMENT OF LIBERIA

BY BINNEH.S.MINTEH & OMARI ASANTE

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The third Liberian republic is undergoing a gradual and an important transition that has various implications concerning the conflict that ravaged the West African nation for a little over a decade. Home to sixteen indigenous African tribes, the people of Liberia are undergoing a fundamental shift in their livelihoods. This shift that has affected many facets of life started almost two decades ago when the civil war that ravaged the country began. The vehicle behind such a shift is driven by multiple factors that resulted to serious consequences with implications at all levels of Liberian society. This report therefore focuses on the implications of a grass-roots based conflict, whilst arguing that the shift in Liberian society brings with it new drivers and causes of conflict in addition to traditional historical drivers that fueled the crisis.
