Jammeh exposed
by Lamarana Jallow

By Lamarana Jallow, Son of The Gambia.

Dear Mr. Editor,

I was present when the President ordered for the arrest and detention of David Colley, the Commissioner of Prisons. You must have received the email I sent you earlier announcing the news of their arrest well before the Daily Observer picked up the story. I’m  an embedded Freedom Newspaper fan here at the State House in Banjul and would keep you posted about Jammeh’s movements before his final fall, which is nearing. More arrests would be effected according to what Jammeh told me during our private meeting. He is very, very  angry at this hour. He is the least happy about Colley’s move to document the departure of the late Daba Marena, Lowe and others. I spoke to David Colley few minutes before his arrest.

Freedom's Editor Bah Joins his colleagues
at the Freedom Newspaper!!

The Freedom Newspaper Management is pleased to welcome the paper's Editor-in-chief Omar Bah  to the United States of  America. Editor Bah arrives here few days ago, after spending one year in exile in the West African country of Ghana. Editor Bah was forced into exile, following the hacking of the Freedom Newspaper by agents of The Gambian Government in May of 2006, which led to the arrest and  brutal torture of its subscribers. Bah who serves as our Banjul Bureau Chief then, was declared "wanted" by the Jammeh government. A team  of armed soldiers launched an unsuccessful operation to get him "alive or dead" if seen within the frontiers of the impoverished tiny former British colony, The Gambia. Bah a one time Daily Observer News Editor, left his wife and family behind, who suffered routine persecution from the trigger happy Jammeh gun men since he left the Gambia. Thanks to the US Government and the Ghana Based Media Foundation For West Africa, Bah has reunited with us here in the land of Freedom Great America.

The opening two sentences of "Homegrown," originally published as "Janji Jollof," read: "'I have been directed to expel you from the program!' the voice thundered into my ears. Editorial:Gambian President Mad or what? Jammeh calls South African professor "an Idiot."
Monday, June 04, 2007 (1280 reads)

Jammeh is sick        Jammeh insults
Professor Hoosen
for real!                   Coovadia

Watching at  Jammeh’s Video footages currently displayed here at the Freedom Newspaper, one can conclude that the Gambia is  being ruled by an insane leader. Jammeh has demonstrated his mental deficiencies openly. Interestingly, the mad President admitted that “Africa is a dark continent” where all kinds  of  mysteries are documented. That Africa is a place where the unexpected happened. Interesting times indeed. Jammeh of all Jammeh is now telling the civilized world that Africa is a “gloomy continent“ where dictators like him oppresses its citizens in the name of aids cure. Jammeh’s aids cure is nothing but another hoax. “Welcome to Africa. This is Africa.” Jammeh charmingly told  the TV reporter. The reporter had no choice, but to drink Jammeh’s charms.

                                      Freedom Newspaper

By Our Banjul Bureau Chief Landing Badjie.

Newspaper.

The blackout out of Freedom Newspaper is now a subject of muted discussion  in Bars, taxis, Attaya Vous and other popular meeting points. The Gambia's premiere online newspaper is one of the most reliable sources of news for Gambians in the country but the web-site could not be accessed by news-hungry Gambian public and those resident in the tropical West African country. The Gambian government has blocked the website for unexplained reasons.  The recent blockade of Freedom Newspaper is described as another setback to the quest of Gambians and friends of The Gambia in the country in their efforts to access balanced and divergent news reports. " For there to be an enlightened democracy, the Press should be allowed to access information, managed it as dictated by the ethics of their profession. There cannot be true democracy without a free and vibrant Press. So why the unexplained fear of the Press," a lecturer at one of the Gambia's institutions of higher learning said in an interview with our Banjul chief correspondent.
