Editorial:Send A Thief To Catch A Thief!Yanks Touray To Be A Millionaire Soon..
Wednesday, November 08, 2006 (1148 reads)

Fisheries Minister Yankuba Touray is running everywhere trying to impress President Jammeh. Touray has realized his much anticipated dream of becoming a Fisheries  Minister in The Gambia. Touray's plan is to rip off the Ministry before his final fall. He is making private contacts at this hour to issue fishing licenses to people close to him. The Fisheries Department is being seen as an easy area to get rich over night. This is the Department which handles fishing licenses and illegal fishing in our waters. In some instances, Chinese trawlers caught by the National Navy fishing in our waters are let go by the said Ministry after the accused persons handed millions of dalasis to the authorities concerned. The graft is a well coordinated one. The Minister has his own contacts at the Navy. Monies collected from foreign trawlers are usually shared among  Navy  and Fisheries Department officials.

Ambassador Jagne Should Be Recalled! The man is a Joke..
Wednesday, November 08, 2006 (940 reads)

Gambian Ambassador to the United States of America Dodou Bammy Jagne is a joke. Mr.Jagne should be recalled without delay. Jagne is not the right person to represent the Gambia overseas. He don't seems to know his work as a diplomat. The man is doing a great disservice to the Gambia and her people. He should call it quits. Bammy is behaving as if he doesn't know that there is a Transparency office in The Gambia. Bammy should be ready for the inevitable sack as Jammeh is poised to replace him soon. His last minute statements to appease Jammeh or the Transparency local office in Banjul cannot save him from going. There is a big reform on the diplomatic line in days to come. Jagne is a square peg  in round hole. He needs some training to accomplish his diplomatic dream. What Jagne fails to realize is that Transparency operates outside government circles and its decision cannot be manipulated by a corrupt government like the one he served in DC.

Gambia's Corruption Rate Undermines National Security!
Tuesday, November 07, 2006 (751 reads)

The Gambia has been ranked as one of the most corrupt nations in Africa. A very bad rating ever recorded in our nation's history. The Transparency International damning report is shocking to say the least. Our country is on the verge of topping the list of corrupt nations across the globe. Our country has been named as a corrupt nation with little chances of meeting the millennium goals. Under Yahya Jammeh's, watch we are not assured of a corruption free society. Graft is at its peak. The Ruling APRC is worse than the deposed PPP government in terms of corruption and right abuses. From 1994 to date, millions of dollars have found its way into the pockets of corrupt government ministers including the commander-in-chief President Yahya Jammeh. Gambia's future is indeed bleak. There is no hope for its citizens. The government has failed its people as a nation.

Editorial:Killer Sabally's Last Minute Confession! He should be hung like Saddam!
Sunday, November 05, 2006 (1124 reads)

While killer Sana B Sabally is making last minute rush to vindicate himself from any wrongdoing, his brother Saddam Hussein has been sentenced to  death by a legally constituted Iraqi court. Sabally's turn is also coming pretty soon. He was one of those brutal and blood thirsty so called military rulers who supervised torture chambers, hit squads, summary execution in the West African country, called the Gambia. Sabally shared common characteristics with the disgraced Iraqi leader. During the early days of the military rebellion, which sent former Gambian statesman Dawda Jawara packing and his government, Sabally was the man at the centre of the arrest and torture of political opponents. While true democrats and freedom loving people are rejoicing over Saddam's death sentence, we the Gambian people want to see despots like Sabally to be tried in a similar manner. Sabally was not only a serial killer but a threat to the human race as rightly alluded to by one contributor .

The former Vice Chairman of the defunct AFPRC Sana B Sabally has called for the closure of the US based Freedom Newspaper. Writing from Dakar, Sabally blasted the Paper's Managing Editor/Publisher Pa Nderry M'Bai and his team of dynamic staffers. Sabally said a paper like the Freedom Newspaper don't deserve to be on the news stands, while citing the story we published about him recently. He believes that the paper is not meeting journalistic standards and it should be closed. Sabally who was linked to serial killing, abuse of office, and persecution of political opponents accused the Freedom Newspaper of trying to defame him. The writer of the piece in question alleges that Sabally was behind the gruesome murder of the November 11 alleged coupists. His name also surfaces on the death of Koro Ceesay even though he was in jail at the material time. The writer maintains that Sabally had a beef with Koro prior to his jailing. Below is the uncensored letter of Sabally. Please read on...

PANORAMA with 'Bulfaaleh'-Nursing Aid of President Jammeh's mother Jailed! Scary revelations.
Saturday, November 04, 2006 (1247 reads)

Mr Kawsu Bojang nursing aid of President Jammeh's mother Jailed...

Sources from within the state house are talking too much about the latest arrest and jailing of Kawsu Bojang. Kawsu has since been the closest nursing aid to the President's mother Ajaratou Assombi Bojang. Both the President's mother and Kawsu are from the same family lineage. "They are from the Bojang Kunda in Foni and their last name is Jola not Mandinka.." said my source. The same last name is what former Gambian Ambassador to Taiwan John Paul Bojang also carries. John Bojang according to sources is a relative of both Kawsu and the President's mother. This is why President Jammeh himself addresses both men with the title uncle when in a good mood. Of course Jammeh calls Kawsu names when angry with him the same source revealed.

Breaking News:Former Military Ruler Takes Issue With Freedom Editors!
Friday, November 03, 2006 (1202 reads)

The Freedom Newspaper editors were taken aback by a mail purportedly from the exiled former junta Vice Chairman Sana B Sabally, who cautioned the staffers of this leading paper to be mindful about our reportage of his past life as state servant. Sabally, in a short and terse letter addressed to the editor said "the truth is final." He did not explain what he meant by that. Below is the unedited email of Sana Sabally. Please read on"

The Management and PNMBAI, BETTER BE A BEAKON OF TRUTH RATHER THAN AN INSTIGATOR OF CONDEMNATION. IF YOU KNOW THE TRUTH YOU CAN DISCERN WHAT'S FALSE. Sana-Bairo SABALLY

Public

In a bid to give credibility to the piece, we thought it imperative to publish verbatim  Sabally's email. Sabally is seemingly misinformed or he fails to read between the lines. The Freedom Newspaper is not aware of reporting any inaccurate story against the former Chairman at any given time. If we do, then  we challenge him to set the records straight. This paper harbors no grudges against Sabally. We are merely performing our required journalistic work. The Freedom Newspaper has earned the reputation of being a medium for the voiceless and the oppressed. Despite the past atrocities associated with Sabally, this paper will not hesitate to accord him his God given right to free expression. As the saying goes"silence means guilt." Judging from his mail, Sabally had something to hide. A man of clear conscience would have offered his side of the story rather than rambling over a straight forward issue. The mail above exposes Sabally's weakness and lack of transparency.

We would be more than happy to hear or receive the truth Sabally is talking about at this hour. Perhaps, he is aware of something we do not know. Come on.... Sabally, share your story with us. We want to know. By this piece, we invite Sabally for an interview to clear the air. The editors of the Freedom Newspaper will give him fair treatment during the said interview. If Sabally is comfortable talking to our Dakar reporter we can still arraign for an interview. The choice is yours now Mr.Sabally. We have demonstrated beyond reasonable doubt that we are not a medium that condemns people, opposed to your erroneous and misplaced imagination. We don't know how you came  with such a conclusion. It was a figment of your own imagination. Remember that public officials have no private life. Since you served the Jammeh government at some point you are bound to be investigated by the media. The constitution gives the media such powers to hold public officials accountable. We hope you know where we are driving at. Think big Sabally. You ought to know better. You are behaving like a kid. Shame on to you.

Mr.Sabally to do justice to yourself, family and loved ones, you need to answer to that damming and indicting piece. You have the moral obligation to defend yourself. Your short and scanty rejoinder will not save you from blame as it raises more questions than answers. What are you trying to hide at this hour? What on earth are you trying to pen?  We understand the high cost of internet fees in Africa, but if that is the case, then drop us your phone number and we will arraign for an interview with you.

On a final note, the management of the Freedom Newspaper is here by assuring its readers including Sana B Sabally that this paper will never depart from its mission statement. The Freedom Newspaper shall continue to adhere to the highest journalistic standards at all times. We are not here to antagonize people. Ours is to report the truth and nothing but the truth. We rest our case.

PANORAMA with 'Bulfaaleh'-Jammeh's Co-President Aziz Tamba at Mile Two,IGP Sonko and others what next?
Friday, November 03, 2006 (1369 reads)

Alhaji Aziz Tamba or commonly known as Co-President in The Gambia has been taken to Mile Two's Confinement wing

Every dog has its day! Aziz Tamba was not wise because he never learnt from the mistakes of those who preceded him in the dirty games he was playing. Aziz Tamba was so influential that he was being called a co-president near President-elect Jammeh. Aziz Tamba is the Tamba family clique around Jammeh.Aziz was picked up and then rushed to Mile Two's confinement wing. This is a place where no inmate wants to see. It is a solitary place reserved for people who have committed serious crimes like murder, treason and treasonable felony and so on. Under President Jammeh it is not how serious one's crime but how angry the President is with the inmate in question. Even if the affected party angers the President for personal reasons he or she will taste that wing of eerie silence, mosquitoe bites and crawling wall geccos. There is where President Jammeh kept people like former council member Sadibou Hydara before he was tortured to death. The same place received Daba Marenah and others before they were killed by the CHIAKAS at night.

Breaking News:NAWEC'S Financial Director Baba Jarjusey Fired!
Thursday, November 02, 2006 (877 reads)

         By A Staff Writer

Another official of Gambia's National Water and Electricity Company NAWEC has been fired. Financial Director Baba Jarjusy is one of the first causalities of the new management that had taken over the nation's energy sector. The Global Management System handed him with a terse letter announcing his immediate firing. Mr.Jarjusey was fired this past Monday, well placed NAWEC insiders told the Freedom Newspaper. Jarjusey has been working at NAWEC for a while now. His dismissal sent a shocking wave among NAWEC staffers. As usual, no reason was advanced for Jarjusey's removal. A NAWEC board member told our reporter that the President wants to clean up NAWEC and as such people like Jarjusey were considered as a threat to Jammeh's new business venture. It is gathered that the President was the new owner of the Global Management System, a company that was recently empowered to run the affairs of NAWEC.
