Gambia’s firebrand politician Femi Peters says it’s regrettable that The Gambia is being ruled by a leader without any vision. Peters who is the National Secretary of the main opposition United Democratic Party UDP tells the Freedom Newspaper in an Exclusive interview that The Gambian leader lacks vision and as such the country had been put into such a sorry state of affairs. Jammeh said Peters wants to run the country with heavy-handedness amid failure on his part to deliver the goods. Femi Peters said The Gambia under Yahya Jammeh is a failure and also a laughing stock. He accuses Jammeh of lowering the image of the Presidency by perpetrating gross human rights atrocities over the years. Peters says there is no democracy and human rights in The Gambia. He also accuses Jammeh of trying to hijack Government Departments and every sector in the country. “ They have given Yahya Jammeh almost all the powers. While we treat such accusations as mere allegations, the onus lies on the authorities in Banjul to clear its image on such wild allegations. Senegalese TV, RTS1, has just announced the cold blooded murder of Sheriff Samsudeen Hydara in Casamance by what is being described as Plain clothes agents (may be rebels) speaking English, the Freedom Newspaper has been reliably informed. He was gunned down near his home and buried today. Senegalese Interior Minister, Ngum represented Wada. He spoke of the Senegalese Government determination to track the killers and showered praises to Sheriff Samsudeen Hydara for his role in bringing peace to Gassamance.

The UDP/NRP Alliance who are supposed to convene a press conference Monday at their Party Bureau in Banjul, will formally inform their party supporters, admirers and well-wishers about their decision to challenge what our sources called such a bad and draconian law.
