Two Central Bank Staff Fired, As Bank Stops Their Study Leave Salaries!!!!

…Governor Saho Blamed For Staff's Plight

As Bank Insider Exposes what he calls "new corruption web" at the Bank

Millions of Dalasi Went Into Governor's Residence Renovation

...Growing Injustice at Central Bank.

"We have a crazy Captain Bamba Saho leading us in wild Ocean without a compass. A good example to show the injustice is the case of two staff of Central Bank of the Gambia who got merit scholarships for MSc/MBA/MA programs but were denied study leave with salary. Can governor Saho explain why these poor lads were denied such opportunities compared to their colleague Abdou Karim John? These cases are: Mr Bumi Kamara who is now in Kenya and also Ansuman Darboe who I think is now in Cyprus. I was going over the files of these two and realized that they were denied study leave with utmost injustice. My feeling is that these people are treated like this because they are rural folks. Am not sure yet and I have to prove that these days but I was informed they have stopped the salary of Mr. Kamara and Mr. Darboe for no just reason. These guys have no one to defend them but we will defend them with pen and paper. We stand for the truth, that's why we are ready to disclose the names of these guys to buttress the case as a true story. You can try and get in touch with these people or with any other Central Bank staff and verify what we are writing. Am now working on getting the contact details of these guys for you to make follow ups,."said our source.

By The Mirror, Central Bank of the Gambia

Dear Pa Nderry,

Kindly add your weight by sending investigators to Central Bank to hear from the staff about the growing irresponsibility in the institution. We need the intervention of the authorities to salvage us from the useless bunch of senior management of the Central Bank. We are waiting for your wonderful office staff to talk to them about our plights.

More Felicitations For Freedom

By Kemo Ceesay

Dear Editor Mbai:

Accept my most sincere congratulations on the 3rd anniversary of Freedom Newspaper. It provides a wonderful civic duty to like minded Gambians dedicated to the ideals of a free society enmeshed in democratic practices. As an avid reader of your prolific outlet, I admire your bravery and tenacity in the face of controversy, threats and the occasional journalistic foibles that plague everyone in the industry. No one's perfect. Your revolutionary conversion of Gambian media is ample proof of your talent.

Gainako Newspaper Felicitates Freedom

Mbai & your entire team,

Congrats to Freedom Newspaper

Team Gainako (GON) congratulates you on your anniversary. Time goes fast and the struggle doesn't wait for any one. Silence is the weakest level that can grip any peace-loving Gambian. There are many things at stake, and as such the muzzle on the home media by repressive laws on the ground means nothing now, because the online papers in their entirity came to define courage, motivation, activism and true support to those in need of our voices. It is therefore in our National interest that we choose the best agendas (the best wars to wage) to uplift our standards and promote a peaceful Gambia, because Jammeh will be history soon and the Gambia will remain. Criminal rulers do listen, and once we take to silence, then they increase their madness. If we make noises, that hits them with panic-fear timely. With a unified force, criminal rulers are stripped naked of their oppression tendencies, beacuse power belongs truly to the people and hence oppressors are scared of even the noise that comes from their shoes.

Former Observer MD Sheriff Bojang Calls Halake A Liar!!!!

Former Observer MD Sheriff Bojang Calls Halake A Liar!!!!

…….As Bojang Sets The Records Straight

Sheriff Bojang Hits Back At Halake

“Baba Jobe never gave me the job as Editor of The Hansard at the National Assembly. I was recommended to the Speaker, Sheriff Dibba by Pa Sosseh Colley of Bakau Mama Koto through Kemo Ceesay of the GFA. I wrote an application and as was the procedure, all the members of the ‘House Committee’ including the leaders of all the political parties represented in the National Assembly had to consent to my appointment before it was confirmed.  Again you lie.  Baba Jobe as a board member of the Observer was one of people who offered me the job as MD.  I never applied or lobbied for it and it came to me as a complete surprise. And I believe they offered it to me because the company was in a state of complete disrepair; millions of dalasis in debt, record poor circulation, low staff morale, nepotism and scores of other problems perpetrated by an inept and perpetually absent managing director. I laid down my conditions, they accepted and I assembled a team and we went to work. I got that job purely because I was the best man for it at that particular point. Period,.” Mr. Bojang posited.

There’s hardly anything in your philippics to warrant my response bar a few points. Your problem with me started when you sent me some prolix comments about someone you picked a fight with and I told you in no uncertain terms I wasn’t interested in your idiocy. We sparred and exchanged a few choice words.

An Introduction to the New Column: THE FUTURE

By The Democrat

Fellow Gambians,

I welcome you to this special column of the Freedom Online Newspaper. This is the special column for 2009 and it is the first of its kind. This column is unique in all its forms and manifestations. It is run by a young person called The Democrat and it expresses only the candid opinion of Gambian young people at home and abroad. We are young people who feel and know that they have moral obligations and indeed time bound goals to remake the Gambia into what it should be rightfully after 15 years of dictatorship, hardship, brutality, chaos and interminable havoc for our people. These young people are the true sons and daughters of the our homeland.

More Letters Of Felicitation

By Pasamba Jow

Editor Mbai,

Please allow me to congratulate you and your hard working staff on your third anniversary. It is demonstratively clear that the Freedom newspaper is one of the most important instruments in the struggle against the Jammeh regime. Over the past three years, we have witnessed the remarkable growth of this paper into a formidable and authoritative paper in disseminating news to the Gambians at home and abroad. Against all odds, you and your staff remained resilient and overly committed to making the paper what is today, a great source of news about the Gambia. The freedom newspaper has become the much-needed voice of the dissent in light of the autocratic rule in the Gambia, where dissension results to imprisonment and murder.

EX-Daily Observer MD Halake Calls Sheriff Bojang A Nonsensical Boy!!!!

EX-Daily Observer MD Halake Calls Sheriff Bojang A Nonsensical Boy!!!!

Halake Takes Issue With Bojang, Amadou Samba and others

Sheriff has said so many bad stuff about Baba Jobe-A Man who helped him get a job at the National Assembly and also as Observer Editor-in-chief, said Halake in this disturbing dispatch to the Freedom Newspaper.

…“ I do not think I should really be bothering to reply to his recent nonsense in Freedomnewspaper.com. You at Freedom and other readers are quite capable of taking Sheriff’s garbage apart and you have done that over the years. Nevertheless, I believe that mud-throwers should be challenged at every opportunity,.”Halaki posited.

London Letter: Oh, God! It’s my Uncle Sheriff Bojang again …

Sheriff Bojang is a gifted poet/writer, but a small boy in all senses of the word when it comes to politics and I do not think I should really be bothering to reply to his recent nonsense in Freedomnewspaper.com. You at Freedom and other readers are quite capable of taking Sheriff’s garbage apart and you have done that over the years. Nevertheless, I believe that mud-throwers should be challenged at every opportunity. This boy was the MD & Editor-in-Chief supported by none other than the paper’s owner, the almighty Amadou Samba, and yet he blames his sacking on amongst others “b-----d Hamidou Baldeh”! The first thing Dida Halake did when he took over the Daily Observer in 2007 was sack Hamidou Baldeh on the spot. Even phone calls from Speaker FJC and DPPR JT Kujabie could not change my mind on that. Why couldn’t the brave and mighty Sheriff Bojang do it in the three years at the helm of the Daily Observer? Later of course the IGP undertook an investigation into matters that I put before him (which partly led to my sacking – but as I said it to my Deputy MD “I either do it my way or get sacked. I didn’t expect to be arrested though!).

Senegalese Gov’t Lifts Travel Ban On Macky Sall!!!

….Former Senegalese National Assembly President In The US

By Gunjur Darboe, Our West Africa Bureau Chief In Dakar

The uncertainty over the political life of Macky Sall, a former President of the Senegalese National Assembly, had been laid to rest at least for now. Sall, also the leader of Apr/ Yaakaar, reportedly left the Senegalese capital this morning for the United States after his passport was returned to him yesterday. The Apr leader have had his passport seized after allegations of being involved in a money laundering scam. The Senegalese authorities however returned him the passport after it was declared by the procurer that the former prime minister was not guilty of any wrongdoing. He will, as part of his trip to the US, take part in a Breakfast party along with his party supporters.

EX Junta Spokesman Felicitates Freedom!!!

Kanteh Says Sheriff Bojang Is An Honourable  Man!!!

… “Going by some of the comments sent in to your good office, I agree that there is room for improvement in both style and substance. This year should see less intrusion into personal space, especially of private individuals. Here the plight of the former MD of Daily Observer Sheriff Bojang and the case of Mr. Sarjo Jallow Ambassador to AU, come to mind. These are honorable people whose private lives, regardless of their political leanings, need to be respected. This is where we need to be different from Jammeh and Co. that we vehemently criticize for childish witch-hunt, slander and character assassination of perceived enemies. “Freedom” stands above these. It envisions a totally free country for all; a Gambia in which no person shall suffer unduly without recourse to redress,.”said Kanteh.

Dear Editor,

On the third anniversary of the iconic and legendary Freedomnewspaper.com please accept my heartfelt congratulations and best wishes .It takes great courage and sacrifice to spearhead and continue to maintain such a vocal medium amidst threats of all kind, as pepper tigers and enemies of press freedom remain defiant to natural law of justice.“Freedom” has demonstrated that the battle for hearts and minds can not be won by brute force as practiced by enemies of progress, but through information and education.

Michael Scales Felicitates Freedom Newspaper!!!

Dear Mr. Editor,

I was deeply "touched" by your praise for contributing to democracy and freedom through this honourable medium. As a 50 year old Englishman, visiting your glorious country in April 2000, I could be considered as just an ordinary citizen, with no political affiliation, who loved his job and spent his time playing golf. While I could be considered as a very successful businessman of good standing locally. I certainly had no " axe to grind  "in my own country let alone The Gambia. I am as surprised that I am here today on these pages as anyone else. It would be true to say. that their are some Gambians who feel I am working secretly for The Gambian Government. I have been accused of being a double agent for President Jammeh.Their are others who feel I am in the pay of The British Government to further their agenda.
