Apart from fulfilling the propaganda determination of JammehA and the APRC, there is no reason to hold the most expensive African Union Summit in Gambia which now nears its scheduled time. To ensure that this is not just another blind venture and a mere politically motivated occasion for a president that is no longer in peace with decent citizens, let the government provide reasons why they believe the harmful effects of holding the summit in Gambia are less than the economic ruins that accompany it.

This is an incident that we always want to remember, people we never want to forget. President Jammeh calling on Turkey to help him in case he is attacked by a close neighbor?
Who is this neighbor apart from Dakar?
For the past days its been the talk of Town. Finally it has been confirmed on a newspaper in Dakar and the freedomnewspaper.com in the USA. As soon as I was informed that the NIA have increased their man power at Hamdalaye, I called my source there to find out. It is true the NIA personnel are many there nowadays. Worst of all I received a Senegalese newpaper called Walf stating that Jammeh has already approached Turkey in the event that....This same paper also quoted a diplomat in Banjul who expressed concerns over the tension between the two countries. Why Turkey at this time? This is why when I shook hands with Gadio at the airport during his last trip here, I was not the least convinced he was going to go home with any genuine thinking from Jammeh.

The Senegalese Newspaper, Wal Fajri, has reported that the NIA have tripled their activities at Hamdalaye, and other crossing points into Senegal. They also claim that a diplomat posted in Banjul have reported that despite the official statements, the two nations have never ever been living under the cloud tension that hovering over them at the moment. The diplomat said that the Gambian authorities have contacted Turkey for any eventualities.

News just came in that the former popular KMC Mayor Abdoulie Conteh has been released from custody after been held for several weeks by the state on allegations of coup plot. Mr. Conteh who regained freedom this morning, reunited with his family. Conteh was feared death during his detention, following reports that he was brutally tortured by his captives. His release followed a front page story ran by the Freedom Newspaper yesterday in which staff reporter Karafa Badjie quoted unimpeachable sources at the state law office who hinted that Justice Minister Sheik Tijan Hydara was not satisfied with the police case file against the accused persons.

New York, April 20, 2006 —Two senior journalists from a leading Gambian newspaper were released without charge today after three weeks in the custody of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA). Editor Musa Saidykhan and General Manager Madi Ceesay of the Banjul-based Independent were told to report to the NIA Friday morning, Ceesay told CPJ.

The current commander of the Presidential guard was one of those being trained by Guinea Bissau commandos. President Jammeh or Sering Modou cannot tell me or those who know that they cannot remember one Guinea Bissau commando called Grang Kolley? It is obvious that they know him. Grang Kolley was known as an expert in training soldiers or men for firing launchers. During the training process some of President Jammeh's best men could not read and understand simple instructions but at the same time, all of them wanted to impress the president as their commander in chief. Private Nuwa lost one his eyes therefore is now categorized under handicaps. The present state guard commander himself had metal pieces pierce through his abdomen. As a result of that during training one of the launchers was left stock for a while. The trainees did not take any precautionary measures and so on. When the launcher exploded accidentally, some of them died instantly. One Sgt. Mendy sustained severe therefore he died last year after suffering for years without proper medical attention. He had his intestines dangling out. He was rushed and was treated in the USA.

Haruna Jammeh came back to Kanilai as a hotel staffer in 2002. Haruna is seen as real nuisance by President Jammeh. This bitterness has been between the two from childhood days to now.Jammeh and Haruna became cat and mouse from May 2005 until when Haruna was caged, tortured and then believed to be dead. He seized a car Haruna was driving as a hotel staffer in Kanilai and then allocated the same car to Sainey one of his cousins.
