Editorial-Why Jammeh should be chase out of the State House? Going to elections means legitimizing the discredited and dented democratic process!!! Tuesday, July 18, 2006 (430 reads)
EDITORIAL
The
sacking of the Chairman of the Independent Electoral Commission Ndoneh
Njie, is a bad signal for the country's ailing democracy.Bad in the
sense that, the conditions for free, fair and transparent elections had
been shattered by this latest developments. Even though, Mr. Njie's
credibility was put to question by stakeholders involved in the
September race,it is imperative for this government to allow the rule
of law to take its cause. There are laid down procedures for the
removal of election officials. For their action to be deemed
justifiable, Mr.Njie should have been investigated by a legally
constituted body to decide his fate. We must hasten to add that such
investigations can only be opened if there is a legitimate case made
against Ndoneh Njie. Such an inquiry must be in the public interest and
not otherwise.
It is time to chase Jammeh out of the state house!!!

TOWARDS COMPROMISING THE INDEPENDENCE AND IMPARTIALITY OF THE IEC-Halifa Sallah Tuesday, July 18, 2006 (345 reads)
TOWARDS COMPROMISING THE INDEPENDENCE AND
IMPARTIALITY OF THE IEC
There
are constitutional and unconstitutional means of changing governments.
Africa has made its choice. No government will be accommodated that
comes to power by unconstitutional means and no government will be
tolerated that seeks to exist by unconstitutional means. This is the
verdict of the 21st Century and it is irrevocable.Mr.
Chairman, a constitutional means of assuming control of government is
not conceivable without a free and fair voting system. Independent
Electoral Commissions are established to ensure that constitutional
governments manifest the unalloyed choice of the people.

By Muhammed Jawara Seattle, washington State The Gambias flawed DEMO-CRAZY
For
a long time now, democracy has become the key phrase that divides the
world, between the civilized and backward nations, developed and
under-developed, promising and bleaked-futured, progressive and
otherwise. In the west, and most parts of the world, the hunger for a
perfect democracy is obvious. From the numerous outcries for democratic reforms in the Middle East
and African countries, resistance to abuse of democracy and human
rights in the west; we are all engulfed in the euphoria of this old
term and what it embodies.

unimpeachable sources told the Freedom Newspaper. Mr.Njie who received
his marching orders this morning was also ejected from his office by
NIA operatives who communicated his sacking to him. Inside the IEC,
shock and disbelief gripped local staffers. Mr. Njie who was said

AU Summit opulance betrays Gambia’s economy
Source:Kenya Times
By Jerry

THERE
is a serious contradiction in the Gambia. Its wealth and vast resources
are not visible on its web site. Its GDP, population and standard of
living all agree that it is one of the poorest countries in Africa and
the Third World. Yet, on arriving at the Banjul International Airport,
one suddenly meets with astounding surprise and confusion.Though
not really big by international standards, the Gambia has built a
modest but beautiful airport with reasonably comfortable facilities.
The staff that man their airport; from the police, the immigration to
customs officials; it is perhaps the real place where guests feel the
Smiling Coast effect of the Gambia. Unlike many airports I have passed
through in recent months, the Banjul airport is the only one where an
immigration official took my passport, filled departure forms for me,
stamped it and gave it back to me and wished me a safe journey with a
smile!

PANORAMA with 'Bulfaaleh' Major Bajinka arrested,GNA tolerance will be tested when Jammeh steals the elections? Saturday, July 15, 2006 (814 reads)
Major Bajinka arrested at the airport from Nigeria.
Of
course by now every Gambian has realised how factual the
freedomnewspaper's reports are. The Major Bajinka story has been on for
a couple of months now. Like any other story it has been proven beyond
any reasonable doubt. In Jammeh's case we would say it has been proven
above unreasonable doubt. Major Banjinka according to the state house
insider I spoke to was arrested at the "foot of the aircraft" as
President Jammeh's men say it in their own jargons. Major Bajinka's own
wife works at the GIA as traffic control officer or whatever they have
cooked for her to handle there. Will she continue working there? Most
likely she will be shunned and fired. Major Bajinka according to my
source was arrested in a "classic" way compared to the usual CHIAKAS
style. He was welcome by the same state guards and then led into a car
while being hand cuffed under hiding. From that point to date no one
can tell where Bajinka is. The same source said he saw Major Bajinka's
vehicle numbered "BAJINKAS" being driven by a strange fellow. Major
Bajinka awaits a sad fate. He has caused a lot of enemies for himself.
According to my source Major Bajinka is an arch enemy of 13 Badjie and
Baba Saho.
