Foreign Exchange Crisis Hits Gambia: Half A Million Dollars Hoarded!
Banks And Local Money Exchange Bureaus Rendered “Ghost Offices.”
Money Changers Defy Jammeh’s Decree to regulate Foreign Currencies
By Correspondent Justice Sam and Karafa Badjie
There is a major scarcity of foreign exchange in The Gambia, as local money changers have embarked on hoarding their monies, in retaliation to President Yahya Jammeh’s decree to determine the value of major international currencies, such as the mighty dollar and the pounds sterling, the Freedom Newspaper can authoritatively report. Almost all major banks across the country had been affected by this protest action. Bank officials at the Trust Bank, the Guarantee Bank and the First International Bank who spoke to this paper on condition of anonymity lamented about President Jammeh’s recent move to regulate international currencies value. “ As you can see, there is no serious banking activity taking place here. Our Foreign Exchange Department has been rendered bankrupt by the President’s move. Most of our clients (money changers) have stopped coming here. They refused to trade their foreign exchange at loss. This bank lacks foreign exchange. With the Hajj just round the corner, many people are finding it difficult to have access to foreign exchange. The dollar and the pound are hard to come by. They are no where to be seen. This is a scary development. When you have a retarded President, such a thing is bound to happen. The Central Bank, which is expected to provide the Government with accurate information about economic issues are hell bent on distorting the economic realities of this country. The economy is not moving. This is the reality on the ground.” said a Bank official.

Jammeh to answer charges of Crimes Against Humanity
Genocidal dictator to join Charles Taylor soon!
As both the Ghanaian and Gambian governments seem to employ the use of tardiness in their quest to solve the Jammeh Genocide, humanitarians around the world have taken it upon themselves to see to it that the case is not buried. Thanks to the good work of Freedom Newspaper and our partners in the Ghanaian media, preparations have already kicked off in filing a case of Crimes Against Humanity against President Yahya Jammeh at the International Criminal Court. One of our very effective partners in Ghana, Joy FM, interviewed Nana Oye Lithur, the Africa Co-coordinator of the The Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative (CHRI), on it's Super Morning Show, on Tuesday October 9, 2007, to shed light on the decision to indict the Gambian leader before the international court. Meanwhile, Observers have described the latest twist of events in the Jammeh Genocide as a prelude to his imminent end reminiscent of how his Liberian equal, former dictator Charles Taylor fell from power.

Gutter press Observer takes its turn in the dictatorship's hire and fire spree
Lamin M Dibba, a journalist working with the Banjul-based pro-government newspaper organ of the ruling APRC party, Daily Observer, has been reinstated for the second time in a year. Mr Dibba was earlier this year sacked with his colleague, Ebrima Jaw Manneh, by the newspaper for allegedly distorting the facts in their reportage of President Yahya Jammeh's witch-doctorial cure of HIV/Aids. The President who owns the paper and uses it as his mouthpiece, was said to be enraged following the publication of what he deemed as a ploy to undermine his 'mystical' ability. The two journalists were apparently left jobless but due to the timely intervention of Health Minister, Tamsir Mbowe who is a personal friend of Manneh, they were reinstated.
