We Need Balance Sheet-Commentary Saturday, July 15, 2006 (463 reads)
We Need Balance Sheet
By Sarjo Bayang
In society, some people are liabilities. Other people are assets. It counts on how much or less resourceful a person proves to be. To determine how less a liability and how much of an asset various members of the wider society we all are, we need Balance Sheet to ascertain the net worth of each according what we consume and how much we each produce to keep society going. From individual level the interest to measure society's networth can be extended to public and private establishments that exist within the wider socio-political and economic environment known as the state aparatus. This is most essential at a time when Gambians are getting ready to cast votes in deciding who is to be handed the master keys to operate our national economy and the super system of government.

Heavy wind, rains left Gambian villagers displaced-As food stuffs, clothings and others washed away by wind!!! By Pa Nderry M'Bai
A major storm hits Gambia's provincial
village Touba Murit, which left half of the village displaced, as heavy
rains destroyed houses and food stuffs, the Freedom Newspaper gathered.
Dozens of near by villages were also hit by the rainstorm. The incident
which prompted rescue missions from neighboring villages, was caused by
heavy rains and strong wind. While many families are yet to recover
from the displacement caused by the rains, it is gathered that some
affected families were temporarily housed in a mosque at the village.
The storm was the first of its kind to hit the village.

NADD/UDP/NRP talks to sponsor one Presidential candidate fail-Dark days awaits Gambia if Jammeh wins again!!! Friday, July 14, 2006 (569 reads)
NADD/UDP/NRP talks to sponsor one Presidential candidate fail-Dark days awaits Gambia if Jammeh wins again!!!
EDITORIAL
Our
divided opposition will no doubt pay for the price of "power greed" and
lack of political direction. It appears that the ongoing negotiations
to bring the opposition under one umbrella had failed once again. Talks
between Ousainou Darboe and Halifa Sallah of NADD to agree on one
candidate come September bears no fruit. Both parties are yet to reach
a definitive agreement. There is no signs to suggest that NADD and the
UDP/NRP alliance will come together. As long as parties will not give
up the notion that they can perform without the help of the other, the
opposition is bound to fail in its bid to unseat Jammeh. Opposition
parties need to complement each others efforts, if they are truly
committed to meaningful change of political leadership. In the absence
of unity nothing will work. In short, we can comfortably say that the
ongoing talks to bring the opposition together is a complete failure.
The press release issued by NADD speaks volumes about the current state
of affairs befalling our divided opposition.

Dear Mr. Zuma,
Reporters Without Borders is amazed by the manner in which you have
demanded damages from the newspapers The Star, The
Citizen, Sunday Sun, Sunday Times, Sunday
Independent, Sunday World and Rapport, from radio
Highveld Stereo and from cartoonist Jonathan Shapiro, who uses the
pen name Zapiro. If you think you have been defamed, then it is entirely legitimate
that you should seek compensation. But in our view you have not chosen
the right way to go about it, and you are liable to do further harm to
your image rather than restore it.

Breaking
News:Scary voter fraud hits the IEC-over 30,000 non Gambians to vote in
the September polls- "Dead voters" still on the IEC records,as an
insider exposed about "voter fraud" conspiracy!!!
BY JUSTICE SAM
While
Gambia's divided opposition are busy making last minute reconciliation
in a bid to come under one umbrella to send President Yahya Jammeh
packing come September 24TH,the country's Immigration Department is
issuing National Identity Cards to non Gambians to pave way for victory
for Jammeh. A well placed source at the Independent Electoral
Commission who spoke to this paper says over 30,000 aliens who were
recently issued with IDS had been admitted on the country's electoral
book. These "voter strangers" mainly from the West African sub-region
can from now on vote in any future elections, said our source. According
to our findings, those issued with IDS were promised with Gambian
citizenship once they vote for President Jammeh in the coming polls. The
Freedom Newspaper gathered that African Nationals from southern
Provence of Casamance-Senegal, Nigeria and some Sierra Leoneans were
issued with ID Cards by the Immigration Department. This voter rigging
graft practice has been going on since 2005,the Freedom Newspaper was
told.

PANORAMA with 'Bulfaaleh'-A Map of The Gambia with what agenda? Are we secure? Wednesday, July 12, 2006 (559 reads)
 Some
time in the future we will rediscover a lot of evil from a wild regime
that is constantly inviting a fight. This map ofcourse means something
because it was found in a strange place with strange people. This map
was downloaded from the Internet but was kept in a safe file coated
with "impermeable" plastic. This was the same type of Map the NIA
claimed to have seen in the hands of former President Valentine
Strasser some years back. Strasser who was in The Gambia after meeting
his sad fate in the UK was not cordially welcome by President Jammeh.
Strasser was lynched so bad by Sieraleoneans who spotted him at the
Bundung Arena during "nawetaan" or the rainy season soccer league in
Serekunda. This time around the map was not with Strasser. It was found
in the hands of Gambian security personnel who appeared to have an
agenda thats different from Musa Jammeh's and the CHIAKAS. There are
different theories going around town (underground talking I mean). Some
of those who know deeper things are saying that people are studying the
country's map for reasons best known to those doing the studies. There
are others who see it as President Jammeh hatching more evil plans to
set up more soldiers again ie accuse them of wanting to stage a coup
thus hijack the elections. In reality the meaning of this map will come
out very soon because it was located by people who wine and dine with
President Jammeh. Does this further authenticate Justice Sam's most
recent report? We hope not for the negative side of it? Does it not
indicate that our country is not secure? It is of course.
