One of the best sources of Gambian news that is available online has come under attack. That source The Freedom Newspaper which is based in Raliegh, North Carolina in the United States had its access to the country blocked by GAMTEL the State Telecommunications Company. This action was taken in response to a story the paper carried about the company.

My name is Lamin Ceesay. Thank you very much for your brilliance and professional journalism. Words are weak to express my feelings but I think all genuine Gambians whereever, or in whichever capacity they are, should stand side by side to support you.Your type are the people we need not only for the Gambia but for Africa as a whole.

It was indeed not a surprise once again to read the contents of the article on Haleke's daily observer. The title looks exactly like those that used to be pasted on propaganda papers during the cold war. This Halake man in respect of what was exposed on him by Casandra,is nothing other than a liability for Banjul to say the least. Of course Samuel Doe before his demise did the same. He used the limbs and muscles of desperate travelers like Halake and Magistrate Mboto to maintain him in power.

I am aware that you have a lot of room to grow and improve and that your experience thus far has afforded you immense opportunity to yield value for Gambia. I have been uneasy and disappointed by the negative affect your reporting has on ordinary and independent Gambians, indeed such malignant affects have been realised by friends of mine.
