Go Kill Yourself: The UDP/NRP Here To Stay-Mathew Jallow Wednesday, July 12, 2006 (385 reads)
As The Gambian elections draw near, the UDP/NRP coalition
representative Mr. Hamat Bah is travelling around the U.S. to meet the
Gambian Disapora. His meetings have drawn crowds of supporters, and
some detractors as well. This does not prevent Mr. Bah from focusing on
the task at hand as he lays out the plans and political objectives of
the coalition he and Mr. Ousainou Darboe have forged. With a total of
46% of the electoral votes under their coalition's wings, the duo whose
national support is growing in the face of APRC and Jammeh's failures,
are giving Jammeh and his thugs a run for their money. With this level
of popular support, it clearly will not take a lot of effort to
dislodge the APRC and regain our country, but is also the most
difficult hurdle to overcome, because Jammeh and the APRC will do
everything to not lose those 5% of the votes that will determine their
fate once and for all.

Has Major Kalifa Bajinka been arrested? A proclaimed military officer sent us a letter about Bajinka's arrest??? Tuesday, July 11, 2006 (836 reads)
Few days ago, this paper declined a piece that was sent by the said proclaimed Military officer due to lack of confirmation about his posting. In the said piece, the officer claimed that Bajinka was supposed to complete his course within three days and warned Mr.Bajinka from not returning to The Gambia. The proclaimed army officer said Bajinka was going to live to regret it when he step his foot in The Gambia. Our GAF source was not available to corroborate his piece and we decided to put it on hold, because we don't want to be a victim of lies and false new tip offs allegedly passed by Sports Minister Omar Fye. A case in question was the missing of Saja Taal, which turns out to be false. This piece we are publising from the said proclaimed military officer is hinting about the arrest of Major Bajinka. The story could not be independently confirmed by our GAF source who was indisposed this morning before going to press. We hope Mr.Bajinka and the government should clear the air about the story. Again, the piece is yet to be confirmed. Below is the full text of the email we received from the proclaimed military officer. Please read on...

There
is an old English that taught us this.."He who dares wins!" Okay? but
dare do what or dare say what? These proverbs rose during different
times and different eras. We are still leaning on them anyway. As
language itself evolutes why can't Gallo Haawa call for a general
conference on this topic? Hahahaaa! Gallo Haawa calling for an
International conference! Yeah I will call everyone to attend this
conference under a fig tree to discuss pertinent issues. One of these
issues includes looking into the meaning of proverbs,it also includes
matching the timing of these proverbs to the essence of philosiphy in
Democracy. "Chei Waaye!"

I'm worried about Hamat Bah's inconsistency when making public speeches-A reader's point of View!!! Monday, July 10, 2006 (439 reads)
By Ebou Juwara, London
Please allow me space to dwell on your recent
publication about Mr Hamat Bah's speech with friends in US. Yes he
said his mind and I don't see any problem with that. But this shows who
Mr Bah is since the formation of his own Party and the run to 1996
election campaign. It is interesting to hear Hamat saying NADD wanted the cake that is
not yet baked. First of all, what parties formulate and constitute
NADD initially? Was NRP not part of NADD formation together with the
others. If he should resign from NADD doen not mean he should make any
kind of alligation or other things for the purpose of looking for
popular vote from Gambian. I strongly belief that neither NADD nor UDP/NRP Alliance will make
any head way in the next Presidential Election unless both comes
together as one to compete collectively in-order to salvage Gambians as
they are claiming.I am also worried about the inconsistency in Mr Bah when making
public speeches. In a rally in Jarra BaroKunda, during his 1996
campaign, he spoke about coming there to symphatise with then about the
brutal killing of Lieutnant Barrow by Jammeh and his millitary for an
alleged coup attempt. He said that although Barrow's involvement in
the alleged Coup was unacceptable and the plotters should have followed
the electoral process to root out Jammeh in the 1996 election, the
brutal killing of these allege plotters was the least justified. Mr
Bah at that point forgotten that the previous government was forced out
unlawfully by Jammeh.
Controversial Bah sent to the cleaners again!!!

Hamat Bah can go to hell-says Joe Sambou Monday, July 10, 2006 (548 reads)
By Joe Sambou
Musa, thanks for your summary of the meeting. The problem of Gambians continues after Yaya Jammeh, with fast talkers like Hamat. What ever he thinks of diasporans, let him know that the feeling is mutual. He can sell his goose eggs in Gambia but they shall always hear from us, whether he likes it or not. I have no use for snake oil salespersons and they can't come better than Hamat. He can go to hell, if you ask me. After giving Yaya another five years, where is the threat from this nut? If he was so great, why the hell he lost his seat? This is just a warm up and I shall deal with this Warambahead in due course.

Hamat Bah is Right Afterall-Editor Mathew Jallow Sunday, July 09, 2006 (480 reads)
Much has been said and written about the UDP/NRP coalition's Hamat
Bah, and his U.S. tour, some glorifying, yet others outrightly
negatively critical. This is evidently an indication that we sometimes
stand poles apart when it comes to our political beliefs, leanings, and
affliations. In particular, Mr Bah is being criticized for a statement
he made in response to a question about what led to the dissolution of
NADD few months ago. Having read the statement myself several times, I
fail to find anything wrong with it. In fact, Mr. Bah was being as
honest as he possibly could be, without giving any regard to political
correctness or individual sensibilities. In an editorial on Sunday,
carried by The Freedom Newspaper, the paper has clearly indicated that
it "owes no obligation to any of these parties and cares less about who
falls under our line of scrutiny." The neutrality of the press is
paramount in any democracy, and the search for the truth should not be
blinded by our political sensitivities or our personal interests.

The Bah affair lingers on......
