Editorial: The Endless Visa Denials: The British High Commission Should Explain!! Part Two
Editorial: Many Gambians called to support the editorial we published On Wednesday, about the visa problem at the British High Commission in Banjul. They said the Editorial represents the true realities on the ground. That our people are being made to pay D3000 Dalasis visa fees, without visas issued to them. That the British High Commissioned, like any other Foreign Mission in the country had no refund policy for visa fees. The most hard hit are students, married couples and the sick.

LT Colonel Sar Sends To The Cleaners- As Reader Exposes Former Army Officer!!
…..Sam Sarr Show Maturity
By Lamin Darboe Leicester UK.
I will not hesitate to point out the childish and backward mentality manifested in the article of our until now respected writer Sam Sarr. Believe me, he is no intellectual of the caliber many aforetime assumed him to be. He is full of himself and could pass as a wise and smart guy but inherently otherwise. Because a wise and matured person of his experience and record should not waste his time writing all these frivolities, thick arguments; flawed and inconsistent rationalizations.

Freedom Editors Gave A Backgrounder About Jammeh’s Desperate Attempts To End The Existence of Freedom
“Domestic access to two U.S.-based, exile-run Web sites—Freedom Newspaper and All Gambian—was blocked for a month beginning in June, according to Internet site providers. Journalists for the Web sites, both of which are critical of the Jammeh administration, blamed the government. A government spokesman told CPJ that he was not aware that authorities had taken steps to block the sites.” according to a statement issued by the New York based media watchdog, Committee to Protect Journalists. CPJ in its 2007 report titled “attacks on the press in 2007.” classified The Gambia as a hostile place for plasticizing journalists. The Media watchdog also catalogued the numerous press freedom violations perpetrated by the Jammeh Government, ranging from internet censorship, arrest, detention, imprisonment of journalists and in some instances disappearances of journalists. The killing of Deyda Hydara and the illegal closure of the Independent Newspaper also dominated the CPJ report.

Gambia Jailed Intalian Investor Accused Of Stealing Kanilai Farm Car!!
…….Investor Domenico Fedeli has been denied Bail by The Kanifing Magistrates Court Monday
By Mamat Taal, Banjul.
Following our lead story on President Jammeh’s strained relationship with a certain European business partner, which led to the jailing of Lt. Bakary Camara and others, the Government in a swift reaction over the weekend arrested and hurriedly arraigned Domenico Fedeli in court on Monday, the Freedom Newspaper can authoritatively report. Mr. Fedli who is the latest investor to be harassed by the Government, had his vehicle registration number (BJL 4063B) confiscated, whilst his fate is yet to be decided. Magistrate BY Camara of the Kanifing Magistrates Court Monday denied bail to the accused person, on the grounds that the Italian investor fails to meet the conditions attached to his bail bond. The court had earlier asked Fedeli to provide a Gambian surety, 200,000 dalasis, with two landed properties, before he could be released on bail.

Breaking News: The Big Interview: Ambassador Essa Bokarr Sey Speaks!!Jammeh can be replaced within five seconds if he dies today! Tuesday, February 05, 2008 (1008 reads)
“Even If Jammeh Dies Today, There Are Competent Gambians Who Can Replace Him Within Five Seconds.” Ambassador Sey Declares
…….All Political Prisoners Should Be Freed In The Gambia
Does he forget that many of those being persecuted home have kids who would love to see their dad’s smiles too?
“Jammeh’s life is in the hands of God not me! Mine too is in the hands of the same God. Politically here is my answer: If disrespecting the constitution continues to prevail then Mr Mbai chances of stability after a sudden stoppage of Jammeh's reign are too slim. Even though many may think he should go,if Jammeh was to suddenly disappear into thin air or be replaced without proper methods in place it could lead to vacuum if uncontrolled with immediate effect. That is, putting in place methods that are meant to adhere to the rule of law. The contrary means any Samba or Demba can use force to rule. This is where Jammeh needs to visualize and respect the rule of law. Because him being replaced in a responsible way can only be caused if he rules in a responsible way. Infact this is future political investment for his own safe exit route. No one will beg him to do so. The choice is his. Certainly one day he will go. I would think a wise person will want to retire, stay at ease and take a back seat enjoying his or her legacy rather than clinging onto power to the point of death. This is where I admire Senghore and Abdou Diouf(both former leaders of Senegal). Senghore died and was honoured after retiring. Did he die a president(active duty)? No! Mr Mbai carelessness while in power breeds chaos. Likewise force also breeds force. Non chalant actions breed non chalant reactions period. Of course Mr Mbai if everything is running fine that is, (where the rule of law supersedes the desire to rule by force) then replacing Jammeh with a competent Gambian is as easy as one,two three. There are so many Gambians who can replace him and rule the country in a very effective way within five seconds if he were to resign, disappear or answer to the ultimate call of natural causes under normal circumstances. Everything must come to an end except Allah,so Jammeh if he loves The Gambia should think about that as well. Other wise the adverse results may as well continue if his reign was to suddenly end. Then leaving a vacuum within a power cliché! Especially in this noisy hypocrisy of praise singing that is prevailing within the four walls of the state house.” Former Gambian Ambassador to the United States Essa Bokarr Sey, speaking in an Exclusive Interview with Freedom Newspaper’s Pa Nderry M’Bai. Mr. Sey who also served as an Ambassador in Taiwan and France also commented on Jammeh’s move to nationalize the naming ceremony of his first son Baby Muhammed Jammeh. Sey commented on a wide range of issues, ranging from intellectual honesty, role of Gambia’s religious leaders in any true democracy and a host of other topical issues. Below is part one of the interview, please read on…….
