Gambia’s Foreign Minister Ousainou Darboe, left Banjul today for Qatar, for an official mission, the Freedom Newspaper can reveal. Mr. Darboe, has been accompanied by his Permanent Secretary and staff. Mr. Darboe, is working on reopening the closed Gambian Embassy in Qatar, sources familiar with the story have intimated. The Gambian Embassy in Qatar was closed by the former  Gambian dictator Yahya Jammeh.

Diplomatic sources said Mr. Darboe is also working on opening an Embassy in Dubai. There is a sizable Gambian population in Dubai.

Mr. Darboe’s trip is going to last for three days. He is expected back in Banjul before the weekend.
