Information reaching this reporter from insiders within Africell GSM Company, has it that five management members of the company have decided to embark on retirement. The five senior staff, were said to have been compensated by paying their retirement benefits.
According to sources, Papa Leigh, Director of Marketing, Omar Danso administration Manager, Sheriff B. Njie Human Resources Manager, Adama Ndimbaland Logistic Manager and Freddie Moore Internal Auditor were among the staff, who retired from the company.
Omar Danso, the admin Manager was accused of fraudulently diverting the monies that were supposed to pay tax thus putting Africell in huge debt according to the tax Commission. The Commission found Africell guilty of not paying tax amounting to Tens of millions of dalasis. Mr. Danso is said to have left Gambia for Germany since his forced retirement.
Sheriff B. Njie, HR Manager, who was previously removed from his HR position and later given the job tittle of Liaison Officer, which according to sources never existed, but still continued to receive the salary of HR Manager, until his forced retirement last month.
Adama Ndimbaland, the Logistic and fuel distribution Manager was accused of stealing fuel thus creating unnecessary fuel shortage within the company.
Freddie Moore the Internal Auditor was accused of internal fraud within Africell.
