Gambia: Breaking News: Tortured UDP Detainees Transferred To The Janjangbureh Prison, As Jammeh Is Bent On Covering His Crimes!

Gambia’s dictator Yahya Jammeh, has ordered for the immediate transfer of the first batch of the arrested pro-democracy protesters to be moved to the Janjangbureh prison, the Freedom Newspaper can reveal. The detainees were arrested on April, 14th 2016, together with the late Ebrima Solo Sandeng. Mr. Sandeng was tortured to death by Jammeh security operatives, while the rest of the other tortured detainees are still nursing their pain.

It would be recalled that Fatoumatta Jawara, Fatou Camara, and Nogoi Njie  have all sworn to an affidavit detailing how they were brutally tortured by soldiers led by Sulayman Sambou. The detainees alleged that they were sexually molested during the course of the investigations. They also deposed in their affidavits that they were present when Solo Sandeng was taken out from his cell at the NIA and was tortured to death.

Law enforcement sources in Banjul said dictator Jammeh is increasingly worried about the growing presence of opposition supporters in the streets of Banjul. UDP supporters normally thronged the streets to protest each time the detainees are taken to court.

Concerned by the situation, said our source, Jammeh instructed his security chiefs to move the detainees from the mile two prison to Janjangbureh.

“It is a tactical move to prevent the opposition showing up during the trial of the detainees. Jammeh is also trying to prevent a UN taskforce due to visit the country from accessing the detainees. The detainees were transferred to Janjangbureh are key witnesses to the tortures and killings sanctioned by Jammeh. It doesn’t make any sense to move the detainees to a jurisdiction different from the place in which the alleged offenses were purported to have been committed.  Once again, confused and panic stricken Jammeh is out to deny the detainees fair and just trial,” said our source.
