Her whereabouts has been finally established, following weeks of speculations and counter-speculations. Gambia’s Vice President Isatou Njie Saidy, who was reported missing from the public view is said to be seeking medical treatment in Turkey, the Freedom Newspaper can authoritatively report. Ms. Njie Saidy’s health condition doesn’t look good at all. She is between death and alive. She is severely ill. She is battling with high blood pressure, and diabetes.
The Vice President, who was recently in Mecca, for Umra suffered a major health condition during the Hajj. She was flown to Ankara, for further medical attention. Gambia’s iron fist dictator Yahya Jammeh was very instrumental in facilitating Ms. Njie Saidy’s treatment in Turkey. He ensured that she was escorted by his guards, team of health and security professionals.
In the meantime, while Isatou Njie Saidy is away, there is a major power struggle in Yahya Jammeh’s government. The following officials are eying for the position of Vice President: Fatou Lamin Faye, Minister of Higher Education, Neneh Macdouall Gaye, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Fatoumatta Mbye, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly.
According to unimpeachable sources, the trio are openly competing for the vacant position of Vice President. In fact, there is an acrimony (bad blood) between Minister Fatou Lamin Fye and Neneh Macdouall Gaye. The duo are barely in speaking terms. They occasionally throw dirt at each other.
Gambia’s deranged despot Yahya Jammeh has the final say on the issue of filling the vacant position of VP. It appears that Ms. Fye, Ms. Macdouall Gaye, and Ms. Mbye are eager to hear the demise of Isatou Njie Saidy. Instead of wishing their colleague speedy recovery, they are fighting amongst themselves for the position of VP.
A source, who reached us, intimated that the Vice President had swollen legs, and face amid a deteriorating health condition. Her chances of executing the functions bestowed on her by the state is next to nil, said our source. This is largely due to severity of her health condition, our source added.
The Gambian government is yet to issue an official statement on the whereabouts of the Vice President. This medium can confirm that Isatou Njie Saidy is in Turkey for treatment.
