The Office of the Inspector General of Police has learnt with dismay that some member of the general public are disseminating false information about child kidnapping in the Country, said a news release issued by IGP Yankuba Sonko. This false information, said the IGP, is causing panic among the population.
“Therefore, the office of the Inspector General of Police wants to reassure the member of the general public that the rumor is false and baseless, and those responsible just want to cause panic among the population,” said the police boss.
In this regards, the press release went on, the Office of the Inspector General of police strongly warns those responsible to desist as those found wanting will be dealt with according to the law.
“Finally, the Office of the Inspector General of police wishes to reiterate that member of the public reserve the right to report any suspicious or clandestine activity to the nearest police station for investigation rather than spreading false rumor that may cause panic among the population,” the press release concludes.
