Just in! Mr. Fafa Sanyang, the former Commissioner of Petroleum, has been released from NIA custody, the Freedom Newspaper can report. This followed a court bail granted to the embattled former Petroleum Commissioner. Mr. Sanyang has posted a bond and he is now a free man for now, pending the final determination of his court case.

It would be recalled that Fafa Sanyang and co have been accused of abuse of office and economic crime by the state. A charge Sanyang and co vehemently denied.

Mr. Sanyang was held for months before he was granted bail. One of their co accused persons Edi Jobe, has been pardoned by Jammeh after reaching a plea deal with the State. Mr. Jobe is being used as a prosecution witness to prosecute Sanyang and co.

In another development, Alhagie Manka, the Gambian photographer is still detained at the NIA. Mr. Manka, was picked up by personnel of the NIA this past Thursday, shortly dictator Jammeh submitted his nomination papers to the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC). His family could not access him since his arrest.
