Police in The Gambia, have shut down the Brikama Community radio station today, the Freedom Newspaper was told by a local reporter. The station’s staff were ordered to suspend broadcasting. No reason was given for the station’s closure.

IGP SONKO NEWThe government of dictator Yahya Jammeh, has been cracking down on local radio stations in recent times. So far, five radio stations have been shut down by the regime.

Private radio stations, who accord airtime to the incoming President elect Adama Barrow Transition Team are often targeted for closure. Paradise FM, another private radio station owned by Haruna Drammeh, was also shut down last night by the government.
