Reliance F.C has not been testing success in the Gunjur “Nawettan” for nearly nine years. But that could become history as they edge past Kundemboo F.C to reach another cup final.
It looks a tough test for Reliance but they were able to muster the energy with a 4 – 2 win on penalties following a 1 – 1  stalemate in the stipulated time.
Striker Yaya Ralphaka Touray opens for Reliance half way into the first period after he give and take a pass from Sanna Tinery Jallow at the edge of the box, before being allowed too much space and time to hit a thunder bolt into the bottom left corner of the net.
Kundemboo who are the new Barcelona of Gunjur football due to their ability to possess the ball well with accuracy and neat visionary passes, keep pressing hard for a leveller.
Reliance continue to look focus at the back and threatening in their attacks, but their plans were spoilt with just 16minutes to go when left back Yusupha Touray slide to block a cross in the box only for the lively captain Ebou Njie to react quickly and tap home from close range.
Kundemboo could not muster the energy in the shoot-out where Reliance custodian who was brought on in the last minutes of the game for penalty saving mission turned a hero as he saved one and guard one around the post to hand his side a 4 – 2 triumph.
The result means this seasons Green Vision International sponsored Gunjur Nawettan is just a two team affairs as both Reliance F.c and Red Star are into the finals of both the league and knock-out cup.
