Gambia: Atlanta Born Gambian American Rising Young Artist To Release Her First Debut Album Ahead Of The New Year!

A young rising Gambian American artist is about to release her first debut album ahead of the New Year, the Freedom Newspaper can reveal. Mary Njie 20, is the daughter of Abdoulie Njie, an acclaimed global musical promoter and a longtime resident of Atlanta, Georgia. She has been working on her long-awaited album for some time now. Her album will feature Sene-Gambian artists, including the mbalax star Thione Seck.

In a message sent to the Freedom Newspaper via whatsapp, Mary’s Dad Abdoulie Njie said: “Hard work in Africa project slowly coming to fruition with upcoming artist Mary Njie about to release her debut songs soon. Missed Atlanta, but worth every minute spent here in Africa. We ask you pray for her success and share it.”

Mr. Njie has been in the Gambia since last January. He is on the ground to provide support to her daughter. He is optimistic that Mary’s upcoming album will be a masterpiece album.

Mary Njie was born in the United States. Both her parents hailed from the West African country of the Gambia. She moved to the Gambia at the age of eight, where she resided for four years, before returning to the States.

She is a student at the Jersey State University. She is on her third year in university.

During a recent interview with a Gambian radio station, Mary Njie said her Dad inspired her into the musical career. “He is my connection. He takes me to the river and I drink. He is my number one factor. If I want something, he knows where to get it from,” she said.

Mary Njie grew up around musicians and promoters. Her Dad Abdoulie Njie has over the years coordinated show performances of Senegalese artists in the United States—coast to coast; particularly leading artists such as Thione Seck, Youssou Ndour, Assan Njie, Fallou Dieng, Pape Diouf, just to name a few.

Mary Njie’s upcoming album will no doubt shake the SeneGambian region. Her Dad is convinced that it will shape the musical narrative for years to come. Stay tuned.
