The incident happened in Senegalese soil. They were travelling to the Jawbeh Lumo, when they came under attack.

The passengers were mercilessly beaten. The armed robbers confiscated cash, mobiles, and other valuables from the passengers. One of the passengers tried to flee from the scene of the attack. He escaped unhurt as the armed robbers open fire at him.

Basse business owners normally buy their goods from the Jawbeh weekly lumo, our source said. An unspecified amount of cash and mobile phones were seized from the travelers, our source added.

Meanwhile, police in Basse have detained the driver of the GELE-GELE vehicle. He is helping the police in their investigations.
