The death of the Gambian Ambassador to the Republic of Sierra Leone has been announced.  Femi Peters died last night in Freetown, the Freedom Newspaper can reveal. His body is awaiting to be transported to the Gambia for decent burial.

Mr. Peter’s health condition deteriorated after he was released from jail. He was a diabetes patient. He was jailed together with Foreign Minister Ousainou Darboe and co during Jammeh’s rule.

A source phoned to inform the Freedom Newspaper about the unfortunate death of Ambassador Femi Peters. “For your information Ambassador Femi Peters died. He died last night in Freetown,” said our source.

Femi Peters was onetime the Propaganda Secretary of the United Democratic party (UDP). He has been jailed on numerous occasions under dictator Jammeh’s rule.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Ousainou Darboe is said to be in Saudi Arabia with a delegation attending the OIC Summit. The news of Femi’s death reached Darboe shortly after he arrived in Saudi, said our source.
