Gambia: NO REASONS CAN JUSTIFY THE USE OF LIVE BULLETS TO SHOOT TO KILL

NO REASONS CAN JUSTIFY THE USE OF LIVE BULLETS TO SHOOT TO KILL.

A security officer can in extreme conditions shoot to neutralize but NEVER to kill.

There are many parts of the body of a person that an officer can aim to neutralize a person but never the vulnerable part of the body of a person with intention to kill. This is UNACCEPTABLE. We condemn the horrific actions in Faraba in the strongest terms specially the killing of protesters no matter what the situation was.

We demand that the shooters be IMMEDIATELY arrested and taken to court for justice delivery. We implore the government to look into acts of SABOTAGE within the security units. We also want to understand if different groups with partisan leaning are sabotaging each other within the government and the security systems and tarnishing each other’s image. None-the-less at the end of the day the buck stops at President Barrow’s doors.

There are seemingly a lot of political and security undermining actions happening in this New Gambia since the coming of the Coalition Government.

Many politicians in this new government want to have their parties be the next president after this presidential mandate ends and will stop at nothing to undermine each other agenda. At the end of the day, we, the people of the Gambia will be the victims of such actions, sabotages and infightings amongst power mongers.

All said and done it behooves on President Adama Barrow to get his house in order.

The horrific pictures circulating in social media cannot be buried under the carpet for political compromising.

The Human Right groups cannot be silenced and the counting goes on. Time cannot make us forget the lives lost unless drastic and URGENT measures are taken to bring to justice ALL the persons involved be they civilian or security and sanity brought back in Government administration.

We finally take this opportunity to extend our heartfelt condolences to the departed souls and pray for divine blessings of their loved ones.

Thank you.

Pa Njie Girigara.
