The son of Gambia’s business mogul Momodou Turo Darboe has been murdered, the Freedom Newspaper can reveal. The young man, who goes with the street name “Daddy Darboe” was attacked and killed last night by one Bakary Baldeh, a resident of Welingara. The deceased Daddy is also a resident of Weligara. The incident happened approximately around 9 PM GMT, last night; just around the Nema junction—next to the Welingara police station.
Daddy’s alleged killer Bakary, has a criminal history on his rap sheet. He has been known for alleged armed robberies, street fights, and disorderly conduct. He is a familiar face to The Gambian police.
Prior to what neighbors called “the unprovoked incident” against the late Daddy, Bakary, who was under the influence of drugs, had a verbal confrontation with his own mum. He even cursed out his mama, before engaging into a fist fight with his sister.
Thirty minutes later, the belligerent Bakary, walked towards the next by street, where he attacked Turo Darboe’s son Daddy. He stabbed the boy, believed to be 14 years of age with scissors.
Blood could be seen oozing from Daddy’s neck, ribs, and ears. Daddy bled to death. His remains were taken to the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital for postmortem.
His Dad Momodou Turo Darboe is said to be out of town. He has cut his trip short. Turo is expected in town in coming hours. His son’s remains will be laid to rest later today.
The alleged killer Bakary, is believed to be around 26 years of age. He has been taken into custody by the Weligara police. Bakary’s Dad is said to be residing in the United States.
Meanwhile, there is strong presence of law enforcement agents in the neighborhood. Families have also thronged the vicinity of the accused person’s family home.
Welingara police OC Amie Bojang and her staff had a busy night, following Wednesday’s incident. The accused person Bakary is helping the police in their investigations.
