Two staffers of Social Security, Housing and Finance Corporation were earlier today taken into custody by the Banjul police. Serign Sonko and Abdoulie Badjan have been accused of vandalizing the internet cable at the Social Security head offices in Banjul. Sonko was briefly held and released. His co accused person Badjan was placed in police cells before he was able to post bail.
This followed, an altercation Abdoulie Badjan had with the SSHFC’s Human Resources Manager one Paul. Paul was said to have sustained injury as a result of the alleged altercation he had with Badjan. He was taken to the hospital for medical treatment. Paul was treated and discharged. He was seen heading out to the police station with an x-ray report on his possession.
Lawyer Assan Martin is the defense lawyer for Abdoulie Badjan. He was able to secure bail for his client. The assault and internet vandalization case against Badjan is pending.
It would be recalled that the SSHFC staffers are currently on a sit down strike. The strike action has been going on for the past two weeks. They are protesting against the firing of their colleague Momodou Camara. They are also demanding for the firing of MD Muhammed Manjang.
