Eleven staffers of the Social Security, Housing and Finance Corporation have been suspended for six months without pay with immediate effect, the Freedom Newspaper can reveal. Among those suspended includes Kebba Touray, an Assistant Pension Manager at the SSHFC. Mr. Touray and his colleagues received their suspension letters on Tuesday.

The SSHFC Board has finally decided to suspend the 11 staffers, who were accused of being disruptive during the SSHFC strike action, in which the building was locked down.

It is not clear if Mr. Touray and co would be allowed to return to work after serving their six months suspension. But this medium can report that Touray and co received their suspension letters on Tuesday.

It would be recalled that Samateh Committee recently recommended that SSHFC staffers who were involved the lock down of the building should be suspended. The Committee also recommended for the firing of the SSHFC Staff Rep Momodou Camara. Camara’s employment with the Corporation has since been terminated.

The SSHFC staffers have demanded for the removal of MD Muhammed Manjang. Manjang has been accused of alleged theft of per diem allowances, abuse of the staff entertainment budget among others. Manjang has denied the allegations.

The staffers’ sit down strike is still ongoing. The suspended Pensioners Division Assistant Manager Kebba Touray, was the De Facto leader of the striking staffers, following the firing of Momodou Camara.
