The Sarahule businessman, who was recently linked to arms importation in the country Abubcarr Jawara was a guest last night in Kaolack, Senegal, where he was handed with an award. Jawara was accompanied by his wife and family at the event. Also present at the Kaolack award ceremony was former Gambian Vice President Fatoumatta Jallow Tambajang, Speaker of the National Assembly Mariam Jack Denton, and The Gambian Ambassador to Senegal.
Former VP Tambajang presented what was referred to as groundnuts to their Senegalese host during the award ceremony. TMF television was on the ground to cover the occasion.
In his address to the gathering, Abubacarr Jawara talks about his businesses in The Gambia, and Africa beyond. He says his company is going to create five thousand jobs in The Gambia in the next three years. He also says one of his companies is in engaged in tomato processing. He added that he is also into sand mining, agriculture and land development.
It would be recalled that EX VP Tambajang, OJ Jallow, Mariam Denton and others visited Kaolack some months ago, where they attended a forum organized by a Senegalese businessman. The Senegalese businessman is said to be engaged in groundnut marketing, among others. He is a staunch supporter of President Macky Sall.
It is now clear that Abubacarr Jawara is highly connected to The Gambian state. He told the gathering that he and his family were hosted in a high class hotel. His two daughters were also present at the award ceremony.
