On February 27th 2019, Secretary General Ebrima Camara wrote to the Director General of The Gambia Immigration Department Seedy Touray, asking him to comply with the Ombudsman’s order to reinstate Omar T Camara, an Immigration officer, who was fired by his predecessor Buba Zil Sanyang, Freedom Newspaper can reveal. The letter entitled “Justice Delayed Was The Justice Denied” went on to state that “ I hereby covey directives for you to heed to the verdict of the Ombudsman for you to take the appropriate steps to reinstate Mr. Omar T Camara and to communicate to the Ombudsman on the relevant steps taken.”
Ms. Ndey Fatou Jobe signed the letter on behalf of SG Camara.
The Immigration Department had concurred with the directive of the Ombudsman. OT Camara has since been reinstated.
