Some journalists, who suffered in the hands of dictator Jammeh’s twenty-two years misrule, have been lined up to appear before the TRRC, the Freedom Newspaper can reveal. They should start giving evidence before the TRRC, as early as next week, according to sources.
Reporters from the defunct Daily Observer Newspaper, the defunct Independent Newspaper and other media houses are among those who had given statement of account about their past plight during Jammeh’s rule to the TRRC investigators.
The TRRC was set up to help reconcile Gambians and expose human rights violations committed during Jammeh’s rule. It is headed by Dr. Lamin Cise, a former United Nations official. Its Executive Secretary is Baba Galleh Jallow, the former co proprietor of the defunct Independent Newspaper.
