Star FM Gambia, a privately-owned FM station, has called on the leadership of the United Democratic Party (UDP) to implore on its supporters to desist from threatening the staffers of the radio station and its owner Alpha Karaga, FREEDOM NEWSPAPER CAN REPORT. In a statement issued yesterday, Star FM says, it will not be intimidated by some rogue UDP supporters, who are trafficking lies and threats against the station’s staffers and owner Mr. Alpha Karaga. The station called on the UDP leadership to henceforth indulge on its supporters to cease and desist from intimidating its staffers.
This followed, a whatsapp message that was circulated on social media purportedly by one of the UDP supporters, who attacked the integrity and credibility of the radio station and its owner.
The Star FM management said Star FM do not support any political party and it wouldn’t hesitate to take legal action against UDP folks, who are bent on terrorizing them. It also appealed for tolerance and decency on issues relating to national dialogue.
The UDP Secretariat hasn’t responded to the Star FM’s allegations yet.
