Police in The Gambia have taken into custody a man, who has been accused of murdering a young lady for alleged ritual purposes, whose decomposed body was found dumped at the fence of the Banjul international airport, Freedom Newspaper can authoritatively report. Baboucarr Jallow, a “marabout” was arrested today around the coastal village of Tujereng. He is currently helping the police in their investigations.
The murdered young lady, whose actual name is yet to be established, was said to be in her mid-twenties. Her hands and legs were chopped off into pieces and concealed into two separate bags. Her hands were placed in a bag and the rest of her body was placed into another bag.
There was a spiritual charm (“juju) found on the lady’s body, when the police recovered her remains. The recovered body was taken to the mortuary for medical examination.
A local hunter was around the bushes of the airport last week, with his dog, when his dog smelled the decomposed body that was concealed into two bags. The hunter then tore the bags and found a human body in it. He reported the matter to the police, which resulted in the arrest of marabout Baboucarr Jallow.
Mr. Jallow’s phone records were reviewed by detectives. A lady, who was in touch with marabout Jallow, prior to the alleged murder, was questioned by the police and later released.
Prior to the arrest of marabout Jallow, a case of a missing person, was reported at the Tallinding police station. It is not clear as to whether the body that was recovered last week at the airport fence, was the lady, who was reported missing at the Tallinding police station.
Police spokesman Lamin Njie could not be reached for comment during the weekend. Multiple reliable sources have confirmed the incident.
