A man identified as one Ismaila Tamba, a former soldier, was shot at yesterday at the Kanilai checkpoint after he was alleged to have tried to evade control at the checkpoint, Freedom Newspaper has gathered. Tamba was shot in the back. He was rushed to the Bwiam Sulayman Junkung Jammeh hospital for medical attention.

The soldier, who allegedly carried out the shooting, was said to be a member of The Gambia armed forces.
