Gambia’s Justice Ministry has dropped criminal charges filed against the former Junta Local Government Minister Yankuba Touray, and his co accused person, former House Speaker Fatoumatta Jahumpa Ceesay. The revelation was made by Justice Minister Abubcarr Tambadou during a news conference held in Banjul on Wednesday.

Touray and Ceesay have been charged with tampering with a TRRC witness Alhagie Kanyi. Kanyi is a former member of The Gambia Armed Forces.

Announcing the decision to drop charges against Touray and Ceesay, AG Tambadou says he would come up with the reasons later as to why the state has decided to let the accused persons free. The Minister wouldn’t give any reason for the move saying that he will keep the public updated at a latter date.

Touray and Ceesay were arraigned before Justice Amina Saho of the High Court. They have both denied charges from the word go.
