President Barrow extends Condolences on the death of Ousmane Tanor Dieng of Senegal 

State House, Banjul, July 18, 2019 – His Excellency, President Adama Barrow extends his heartfelt condolences to His Excellency and Dear Brother, President Macky Sall on the great loss of Mr. Ousmane Tanor Dieng, who passed away in France on Monday, 15th July 2019.

President Barrow dispatched a delegation led by the Honourable Speaker of the National Assembly, Mrs. Mariam Jack-Denton on His behalf, the Government, and the People of The Gambia to attend the funeral of Mr. Ousmane Tanor Dieng.  Mr Dieng died at the age of 72. 

He lived a fulfilling life, held various public and political portfolios including being the First Secretary of the Socialist Party of Senegal – PS.  He was a member of President Sall’s Coalition Government at the time of his passing away.  In 1996, Mr. Dieng became the Vice-President of the Socialist International.
