The Inspector General of police Mamut Jobe is not in town. He is in Mecca performing pilgrimage. He was quoted by the Ports MD Ousman Jobarteh for having made the request for the ports to held build three police stations in the Upper River Region of The Gambia. One of the proposed stations was to be built at President Barrow’s home village of Mangkamang-Kunda. It would cost the ports over half a million dalasis in expenses.
Jobe is among the government officials who benefited from the free Hajj package this year. His wife is also part of the pilgrims, according to sources reaching us.
Also, enjoying the free Hajj ticket is Alkali Conteh, a member of the Public Service Commission. Conteh too is in Mecca performing Hajj.
