GAMBIAN POLICE ARRESTS FOUR PEOPLE IN NIAMINA SAMBANG OVER FARMLAND DISPUTE VIOLENCE

Police have arrested four people at the Niamina Sambang Fula-Kunda. Those arrested have been identified as: Mawdo Jallow, the Deputy Imam, Pa Jallow, and Gawlo Sowe. The name of the fourth arrestee couldn’t be established at the time of filing this report.

The detainees were first held at the Jareng police station before being whisked to the Bansang police station. They have been accused of causing violence in the village. This followed a farmland dispute between the Mandinka and Fulani tribes in Sambang. They are yet to be charged with any offence.

Also arrested was one Kemo. He was cellular phone was seized from him by the paramilitary officers after been accused of video-tapping the arrest of the villagers. Kemo was handcuffed from Sambang to the Jareng police station. He was later released after the officers had deleted the recorded video on his phone.
